  1. The Royal Academy in London is in dire financial straits and needs to save some £8 million which involves a couple of hundred redundancies.

    One proposal is that they should sell a unique artwork known as the Tondo, by Michelangelo, the only piece of his in the country, to raise cash.

    So, should we sell our great pieces of art to save jobs? My gut tells me no, but what do others think?

    Should France sell the Mona Lisa, for example? It has been suggested.

  2. I think the UK govt uses Citibank for pension transfers in Euros. As this must be lucrative business that the bank won by competitive tender I imagine they would be keen to keep it so would negotiate passporting deals.
  3. Is any BBC “personality” worth more than £100,000? How do they work out the “value” of faces such a G Linekar or some of the DJs?

    Surely, they are just playing licence payers for fools.?
  4. Some banks may close accounts but I doubt if all are interested. Lloyds have said they will keep accounts open but apparently Barclays want them closed.

    Guess we shall just have to wait and see what is going to happen. Passporting is complex.
