1. Just for the record the 1st rule of the road - France, keep to the right except when overtaking, UK, keep to the left except when overtaking. The label of autoroutes and motorways having slow, middle and fast lanes is a misconception. On a 3 lane highway there is a driving lane and 2 overtaking lanes.

The safe driving distance between your vehicle and the one in front is the 4 second rule and yes people will leap-frog it. Better to arrive where you're going slightly later under your own steam than on a gurney or in a body bag.

driving and also ie love making, who would say that they are rubbish at it.

Few say that they are rubbish drivers and those that do, and I know some, tend to hang up their licence and not drive any more.

    Is this what you mean?

I wonder how they rate their performance in either of the disciplines.
I just wonder how "expats" can be considered to be "contributing to the economy" of an area if they're largely retirees causing an increasing burden on healthcare and whilst their main contribution to the economy is spending a few quid occasionally in the local pizzeria and buying a baguette or three. They're not contributing a whole lot to society in their chosen place of residence.
Hmm, are you not confusing the poolside, wine swigging part-time idlers with full-time involved retired residentsI? I assume the statement was  a 'blague' for the benefit of we immigrants. I don't know where you hang your hat in France or what sort of company you keep but the immigrants I know and associate with have, over the years, pumped millions in to the French economy by way of taxation, investment and purchasing. As we are legally resident in France we are entitled to expect and receive the same standard of health care as the indigenous population and let those in charge ie. politicians sort out the finances of the present system.

2 feeds to Humax 11008 box

2 feeds to ancient but still functioning Humax box from around 2004 vintage

    2 feter us.eds spare

I had previously thought to use a splitter between two old Manhatton boxes where the Humax boxes now reside. As said they blew up after a short period of use.

You obviously enjoy your tele. I tend to do the majority of my tele viewing from t'internet via my laptop and headphones (ie. not deaf, but with todays slimline tvs, the poor diction of so many and 25 years of standing in front of a 1000 watt Marshall stack I do struggle with certain tone levels.) However, as we are having major refurb works carried out I thought it was a good opportunity to install media wiring for whom ever lives here after us.
Exactly. I'm expecting a rumble with my sparks, who has installed all the electrical/media conduit during our alterations, as he is saying for the set up we want we will need a splitter and I'm saying we won't except for french tv from an aerial.
I have an inverto twin lnb in the Perigord noir on the edge of the satalite footprint which feeds a Panasonic TV and it works very well.

In my oplnion both good pieces of kit.
We are going for quad - 2 for a Humax HDR and 1 for our basic 15 year old Panasonic leaving one spare for possible use at a later date.

Thanks again for your response and recommendation.

  6. Thanks for the response and the heads up Sue re the terminal connectors, forewarned is forearmed so to speak.

Inverto do appear to receive positve recs on a global scale. The only two negatives I've come across were where the LNB failed to work. I suspect the reason for that could have been that they bought themselves a Quattro when they required a Quad or vice versa. Both are totally different devices.

Ah Lidl, I hold a season ticket with them. No, have never suffered with the "carte muette" with Lidl. However have experienced the occasional hiccough with Carrefour filling station and shop. I always put it down to a time-out due to excessive card traffic on the system within Fr and UK

  9.
As I still go to France fairly often, I thought I would keep my account open anyway, and transfer a bit over to it every now and then to use for cash, shopping and expenses when there. I reckon that would be cheaper that using a UK bank card each time.
Open yourself a 'Metro Bank' account and you will not be subjected to non-sterling charges on cash withdrawls or purchases when using your card in Europe. Info
