[Burial - a sombre topic]

Wrong I'm afraid - recent research reveals that cremation results in the release of seriously worrying amounts of greenhouse gases. Additionally crematoria are having to modify their exhaust systems to counter the emission of mercury - which has led to some alarm amongst their neighbours.

However I haven't seen any sign of green or woodland burials becoming popular in France? Has anyone else?

[More trouble at Eurotunnel]

Tonight's BBC SE news reports that freight operators are likely to boycott the tunnel next year in response to the company's insistence that they either accurately forecast how many crossings they will need to make or pay hugely increased fares.

As story follows story you're left wondering exactly who the current Eurotunnel management team (who gained control after the shareholder 'revolt') are - P&O executives?

At this rate they'll have managed to shut the whole thing down in around three years.

[Wow - that was some storm!]

Indeed! We're around 20k east of St Lo and we got the build up then around 19 minutes of rain (and the same again later in the night).
One of the farmers fearing the worst started harvesting the field over the road at 11.15 and only managed to get a couple of complete circuits with the combine before the rain came.

Dried out nicely now but we hope he'll wait until tomorrow rather than try again tonight!
