  1. If you can get over to France try the local Supermarket notice boards where properties are advertised for sale

from the owners with no Agents being involved.  Another good hunting ground is the local Mairie where again you

may find Private Sales pinned up inside on the Information board - the Marie will also know of properties within the

nearby area which are for sale but for some reason are not being advertised..  We also have found that the Notaire

for the area have some private sales on the books.

    Happy Hunting

  2. Kai our daughter had eczema as a baby and sometmes still gets a bit of dry skin.

We  recommend  the following and it has had great success with ourselves and friends in the UK.

For the bath and as a wash  A-Derma Avoine Rhealba its a Gel Moussant

For the skin Sedagel by La Roche- Posay - A soothing Gel.

Shop around as prices vary, excellent products.

  3. I needed a tyre fitted over here in the UK prices ranged from £10 down to a fiver which inc fitting and balancing. So

if you can shop around I know it's not that easy in France as I had to have a new one fitted on an old VW LT28 gulp gulp and

    swallow the pill.

  4. We watch them for pure enjoyment but wonder where the money comes from especially the

younger buyers.  Our Cottage in the Correze was bought in 2001 we had to get a new hot water

boiler, septic tank, replace some oak flooring and give it loads of tlc as it had been empty for 5 years.

But the total budget for the house and repairs came under £30k.  We still love the place to bits and will be

there in April and then again for the Summer Hols.  We saw loads more for a higher budget but were

realistic as to what we could afford at that time and mindful of future running costs and taxes.

It is a 2 bed Cottage with 2 caves a floored grenier + nearly half an acre of grass, in a village with shops.

  5. We are also in the Correze and do not get bothered with the buzzing little critters either, but we do still get bitten

by some insects (daytime) and after being eaten alive cutting the grass I now dress up for jungle warfare.  Socks tucked

into boots a jungle net hat and gloves, the neighbours have a laugh, but when I did it without the protection I got 19 bites

all in a line on the back of my neck.

Vitimin B1 did not work for us.

  6. Several thoughts came to mind.

Are the family resident in India (Goa) or on a long break from the UK :

What about Schooling  the mum has 7 children.

Naive does not hold any water. She was 15 having sex with a local 25 year old and the mum knew about

it but only in the last month.  Then she goes walk about with her clan but allows the 15yr old to her own devices.

How are the family dealing with money matters or are they still under the UK system and receiving monies that way.

Social Services will have a field day if they decide to come back.

The above does not take away my thoughts for the poor unfortunate girl and her immediate family.

  7. We have a small Cottage in the Correze bought in 2001 and have visited since that date on all School Holidays. We bought

at a very reasonable price and love the area as it is a safe environment where doors and property can be left open and ungaurded

without any form of bars on the windows.

We have visited plenty of Historical sites in this region and will do for many a year as there are loads and loads to visit and

a week does not do justice to this green and pleasant bit of France.

I think you may upset some people who live in this region by saying in 7 days there was not enough to see and enjoy.  Mind you I like

being in the cheap seats as the dearer ones attract vagabonds, burglars and thieves. Oh and our Butchers has just shut. so we are out of the running. rofl

  8. We just dug up the grass and put down heavy duty breathable sheeting and then gravel, the odd weed pops

up now and then but so far so good,  we did not bother we any hardcore two cars fit on with ease.  We also spray

weed killer on the driveway and new car park area twice a year.

  9. We had to have a new one fitted and it cost us about £200 but this was in 2002 it is about 5'6'' tall, I think it may

be 2000 litres but do not quote me on that.  We have hot and I mean hot water all day as the unit comes on at 10:30 pm

and goes off at around 4:30 am using cheaper electricity.  It is set on very hot but can be turned down, hope this helps. It

is housed in a small cellar area and is well lagged.
