I'm anything but an expert but ... I would presume that if you are growing grapes for the table then watering would be advisable to help avoid tough skins but if you're growing grapes for wine then you don't, as you say "let them work for it".Incidentally, the same applies to tomatoes - lack of watering produces thick skins!

totally agree with SlinkyKitten - but don't forget to get it out of the 'fridge a while before using or it's just not the same [:)]edit: olive oil fruité is a lot tastier than the basic one.

i've never seen seedless grapevines on sale in France but it wouldn't suprise me.i bought some 5 or 6 years ago from a mail order company on the Isle of Wight - they certainly grow well here like any vine and have quite a prolific crop but although the grapes are sweet enough i've always found the skins to be very tough, which may be down to lack of watering.

i've only ever seen an Oriole flying but quite obvious by it's colour - a lovely bird :) it's the best time of year for wildlife at the moment - only one thing in short supply though and that's honey bees - i've read the reports of "mysterious bee shortage" etc but it's true, well it is round here - anyone else noticed it?

if you're indoors electric plug-in mozzie killers work extremely well even with the windows open all night - the refills last for 45 days - I've been using them as a matter of course for the last 3 weeks or so.if you're outdoors ..... that's a different matter - apparently citron candles or cream keep them at bay but personally I'm not convincedmy view on it is if you're tasty they'll bite if not they won't - have to admit outside I always get bitten to death [:P]

probably no help whatsoever but.....if your radiator is pierced: buy a cannister of expanding foam, give a good squirt to the damaged area both sides if possible, wait half an hour, trim off any excess, top up the fluid - drive off with a smile on your face :)can't tell you how long it will last but it certainly works and can be useful as a standby.

mint if you want the smell or aubretia if you want summer long colour, comes in purple, red or white - or both if you have room :)

erm, doesn't look like it :)but i have read about it: http://www.ariegenews.com/news/news-1-1-2693.htmlextreme hailstorms can be very very local and often seem to sweep along a valley leaving a trail of destruction behind them but not touching either side of the valley. i've experienced two in the Dordogne which lasted 5/10 minutes, destroyed or damaged many rooves in their path and shredded leaves off trees so the roads were like a green carpet but have cut a swathe no more than half a kilometre wide. the first one i encountered left my car with a bad case of cellulite all over - not nice :(

two possible causes from my experience:- it could be due to moisture on the underside of the liner or if you are running an electrolysis device it could be due to excessive use in which case switch it off. other than that sorry no idea!

JimJams,for what it's worth I'm just going to add my 5 centimes -I've been with Free for almost 2 years and most of the time I've had no problem at all. However, 2 or 3 times there have been periods of days or weeks of poor connection speed during peak hours and annoying disconnects but the longest I've ever been without a connection has been about an hour - never days or weeks. I have a neighbour over the road who is with Orange/Wanadoo and he also has disconnect problems from time to time. It seems to me that no matter which ISP you are with you are likely to have occasional problems and it seems the more remote you are the more frequent the problems are likely to be.I pay 29,99€ per month for a 2.4 mega connection (includes the Freebox at no charge), oh and my France Telecom bill that I received today reads: consommations - 1,08€ + TVA - I can live with that! All my other calls were made via my Freebox which are free for all calls within France and to the UK plus all other EEC countries - the only other call charge I have is to mobiles via Freebox which are payble at 0,16€ per min at peak time and 0,05€ cheap rate for Orange and SFR.Hope that helps.

Does anybody actually still use Internet Explorer?I thought most people had upgraded to Firefox for their browser - http://tinyurl.com/36a3tpOK it's true that IE7 has been styled on Firefox but it can't beat the original in my opinion :D

I think LanguedocGals' analysis is excellent and very well thought out - it may not be what people want to hear but in my opinion it's absolutely spot on although of course there are always exceptions.Far better to arrange for a child of 14+ to finish their education in their mother tongue and then consider the options rather than put them through a potential torment of trying to learn in a language that they do not understand.

If the meter is not in good condition EDF will change it at no charge either on the visit when they come to reconnect you or very soon after.When we first moved into our old house the EDF guy took one look at the rubber covered cables in tin tubing and said "I'm not reconnecting that" but what he did do is disconnect our supply cable from their connection box after the meter and basically said "what you do after I'm gone is your business" - so of course I reconnected our original cable as a temporary measure [:)]

blue carpenter bees are common in many parts of France - in our house they're known as Triple B's as in "Big Black Bees" - they love lavendar and anything smelly and so far as I know they do no harm. they appear very early in the year and stay until very late in the year.
