1. My daughter is 14, she is in year 9 in a UK school and would be starting her GCSEs this September. I would ideally like to be living in Paris by the time she would start year 10 in September, but I have many questions.

Would French/British teachers, also parents of teenagers who have acheived this/have experience - advise waiting until she's completed her GCSEs in this country and starting her International BAC when she's 16/17? Has anyone here had experience of sending children of a similar age to International schools before they get to year 10? I've tentatively searched various fee paying schools and am unsure about which ones would be the best to send her to. She loves the French language, is very able, and has good French for a girl her age in this country. But I wouldn't want her to be drowning if I made the wrong choice. I apologise if I sound very ignorant about the French education system, that would possibly be because I am at the moment!

I would love to hear stories from parents who have expereinced this with young teens, and also possibly advice from teachers too?

  2. Twinks! JK! I've missed hearing from both of you recently, so I've trawled to this far corner of t'internet to find you. You have a huge email to respond to Twinkle, I hope you're ok, gorgeous *waits pateintly*

    Hello!

How are you?  You're up JKs doing the accounts?
I'm lovely thank you, sweetheart.

Well, just recovering from fact that my angel sister has forgotten all about every time we've ever met *sniff* but good otherwise, ta.

And JK was indeed doing wine and quins in a lovely fashion on Thurs. Wish you'd been there chopsing with us about filthy randomness/random filthyness and conservatories too :( [kiss]

  4.

Oh so you have forgotten about the many times you have met me then?
It took a long time , a lot of money and an excellent psychyatrist - but yes I have forgotten your visits now[:-))]

And no, I won't say a word, have no fear, this is your little domain/release/special place *lips sealed* x

  6. I am roaring at that thread, fantastic work Katie, you are a little gem, and I love little Twinks popping in with her practical hat on giving advice amongst the mayhem! Brilliant! [:D]

Thank you kindly for the welcome too, Meg n Mog - and Gaurdian, I've no idea how you guessed, but yes, I'm mostly Welsh. [:)]

  7.
I'm good thanks LS, so why did it take you so long to sign up? Hey, you're not into trampolining are you?[;-)]
I’m not sure how to respond to the trampoline question…I

    wouldn’t say no…[blink]

As for taking so long to sign up, I haven’t had net access

at home for about four months, which actually did me a lot of good, as I was far

too addicted to forums at the time and I’m loathe to access forums from work as

I know how minutes turn into hours  in

places like this, and I think I’d like to keep my job!
..We were scared.

    *spits out wine* !! [:D]

  8. What a story. [:D]

    I

know several teenagers who live near me, that share the same ‘mischievous’ sense of

humour..one instance of this behaviour  in particular that springs to

mind, involves a 17 year old boy who managed to purchase a second hand car from

the local gypsy camp site for the princely sum of £1. His father wasn’t very

pleased when he discovered the imp with said car. *shrug* You’d think he would

have been landed, over the moon in fact, and allowed his son to make a nice

little profit from the local scrap merchants…unfortunately the boy was only 13

at the time, and his dear mother *cough* JK *cough*, also unfortunately shared

her husband’s views….Poor master JK. [blink] Luckily this episode didn't thwart

any of his natural entrepreneurial skills [:D]

  9. Tresco! Lovely to meet you, I've actually allowed my sister (not Twinks, one of the others)

first refusal on sharing my dungaree, organic, French fantasy where we

let all the locals believe we are lesbian hermits, but you seem

perfect! As soon as my french abode is purchased - I'll pm you, and you

    can move in!

Sweet salut to you too, Jay Jay, thank you for the welcome, hope you are well, dear.

  10.     Lovely to see you too Little Katie, I'm just trawling my way through the forums and am engrossed in the French language debate over in The Complete France Post Bag, As for my 'living in france' query, I can't seem to find any dungaree-wearing painters who listen to Janis Joplin and want to grow veggies to bond with yet, but I'm still looking.....I'll think of a thread soon...after Desperate Housewives probably though [:$]

  11. Bonjour tout le monde. What lovely descriptions from Twinks

and JK, don’t believe everything though, I only feign the clever bit! Thank you

for the lovely thread, JK and thank you to everyone else for the warm welcome,

I’m really looking forward to spending more time online -getting banned - learning

about how wonderful it is to live in France.
I must of missed her over christmas  what thred was she on ? Is she a

french and English accountant, I could do with some advice about being self

    employed while living in france

but being paid by English and American companies.[8-)]

By the way Lemon shoes if you are looking welcome to the forum looking

    forward to meeting you[:)]
Hello Pads, in answer to your question, I don't think I'm actually qualified to

answer your question, I've no idea (as yet) about the laws and wiles of French employment,

but maybe if you explain a little more about your actual status, then I could find

out for you....at first glance I'd say you were employed by an English/American

company and are therefore not essentialy classed as self employed ?? If you want to, pm me the

general query you have and I could try and find out for you.
