1. The airbag system will check itself,  airbag light on when power up, sytem auto checks then turns the light off.  So if the  inspector sees no light, or its dont go out its faulty.

Brake fluid check will be a level check, cant be anything else, not unless they are investing in some sofisticated fluid analysis gear, I doubt it.  Be careful with silicon  brake fluid, not all its cracked up to be and not as good performace wise as mineral based fluids.  Fit it and forget it, OK, but you cant beat bleeding the system once per year, its easy to do and much cheaper than the silicon stuff.  Keeps yer nipps working !

  2. Led Zep best band in the world, no argument.  I still listen to their stuff lots, great on the MP3 whilst tackling the garden [:D]

50 cent, what a pillock - call that music.  Kids need to listen to some LedZep and then tell me that 50 Cent is good [:'(]

Maureen is brill, the voice is so distintive, why is she on StarAcc ??  She could get a record contract no probs any where.

What a breath of fresh air boys to  men were, Only prob, wife was singing  at the top of her voice and driving us all mad!!

I assumed that PCWHIZZ was referring to the widespread habit of ditching the FT service and relying 100% on VOIP eg the 100% Neuf and the similar Free package.

I still think that its worth having the steam powered phone line, it comes in handy for complaining  when the ADSL goes down.[:D]
Exactly BJ.  I get the impression that there is a lot of miss selling with VOIP, its a high tech service that many, I think, dont really understand the full implications of what they are buying into and of course what they are giving up.  Keep your POTS !

  4. Ernie, your right with the 8km figure, because we are just over 8ks from our local exchange - bummer!

I had a problem with the line a few months ago; when it rained the dialtone would disappear for an hour or so.  FT fixed it by swopping the pairs, but I have my doubts  - I think the whole multicore needs renewing, then I might get a half decent service.  But try telling FT that - I was told I shouldn't live in the countryside  hahahaha.

  5.
608kbps is, to put it bluntly, pathetic, you must be some way away from your exchange [:(]

You won't be doing any video streaming that's for sure, still, anything is better than dialup [+o(]
608 kbps wow thats a luxury, were I am I cant get anything other than dial-up and thats intermitant and I have to pay broad band rates for the service !  OK I'm jealous.

Yes I'd jump at broadband tomorrow if it was available but I seriously question why people buy into VOIP and all its hassles.  Your standard telephone (POTS - plain old telephone system - as we used to call them) could be a life saver one day and if your relying on a ISP and mains power, well, you can guarantee it'll be off just when you need it.  So if you have VOIP, think about it, and make sure your mobile is good !

If your PSU's internal fan is noisy you can change them, Just be careful as those large capacitors hold a charge for a long time.
I  think we need to be careful with that kinda advice OVM, it is a French Forum and not a computer geeks site !  If you've got the PSU in bits, check the joints around the caps and power devices, prone to drying out.  But, now the safety bit, dont blame OVM or me if it bursts into flames and burns your house down !

Are Dell still using custom PSUs ?  I thought they moved over to standard connectors a while ago, may be wrong.

  7.
The last suggestion by Anton is the most likely if the motor is running and the both sides of the blade are not turning.  A lot of these have a fan belt that converts the drive from the engine to the blades.  If you try and do too much with it ie breaking up hard ground or hit stones, the band will jump out of the pulley wheel or break.  You will need to take of the covers to access the belt or get the supplier to do it.
I've never seen a fan belt on a rotovator, I think you mean drive belt [:D]

Really OP. this is so basic, I suggest you take it to someone who knows what they are doing before you do yourself a mischief ! [:'(]

  8. I'm no expert, but I have a interest in this as I also have plans for an Orchard, mainly apple.  My observations so far are:

Look closely at what the locals grow, and of course, talk to the locals.  This will help form the main selection of trees.

When planting, think carefully about the spacing, if its a big orchard, you will need tractor access up and down each row.

What are you going to do with all the fruit ?  Apples are fine as they keep, but tonnes of plums and pears can be a problem.  A couple of good (how will I know if they will be good ??) plums trees will probably provide all your needs ??

Your soil explains the vines, why not replant the vines ???

Love the idea of exotics, just dont go mad.  You 've got to have kiwi and fig.  What about bush fruit, currants and gooseberrys ?

and making Quince Jelly is akin to torture !

  9. Alan,  With the PC running and screaming at you, simply touch the centre of each fan to find the noisy one.  If its a case fan try running the PC without it just to be sure.  If its the cpu fan dont disconnect it as the CPU will overheat.  Once found, look carfully at the fan blades and housing they could be clogged up with dust, if not its best to replace it.

Oh and never buy a cheap PSU, you get what you pay for as with all things, cheap PSUs are just that.  You'll be replacing  it again just out of warranty and a cheapy will probably fail taking out other hardware.

  10.
And I doubt we are talking about the size of circuit board to which you can apply a standard soldering iron....
ah well no, and thats why electronic stuff  like this is throw away.  The cost of repair, which probably means new innards, plus techi  time will be a large portion of  the cost of new, and then considering technology advancement over the 3 + years,  makes it a no brainer.  I bet the manufacturer one longer makes bits for that  model !  Buy  a new one, shame, but thats the world we live in today.

  11. To make a audio disc, playable on a normal CD player, you need to "close" the  disc, the software will ask you this question.  Closing the disc finishes it and it cannot be written to again.  To make a data disc, you can leave the disc "open" so that you can write further data files at a later date to it, again, the software will ask you this question.  I recommend something like Nero for burning discs (CD and DVD)  as it is fairly intuitive (Wizards available to help you) and it just gets the job done.  Forget using the Windows software, its too basic - well on XP, dont know nowt about Vista ....  yet  .... [geek]

  12. Check your manual to restore factory defaults, it'll be there somewhere lost in the multi menus that seem the norm on digicams [:'(]

Well, the term WOTS is new to me, but as an ex electronics repair Engineer, yes its the first thing we do !!!   I'll be usings WOTS from now on [:D].

But, seriously, just see how it goes, my guess is that the problem will return, just when you need the camera.  There must be some form of dry joint / bad connection  somewhere in the screen circuitry, not an easy thing for the repair techi to say with confidence,  yes I  repaired that problem, because, dry joints / bad connections always have a habit of returning ....

Get a big wood chipper and invest in a chip-fed fire to power the central heating!

    Just a thought.
On a tangent, do you have any idea how much a wood chipper costs (ball park).  Reason is, I have quite a decent area of forest (and am starting more) and have been considering wood powered central heating, etc.  The cost of the boilers seems to be dropping, just with the wood available for free but in the wrong format (i.e. unchipped) seems a shame.

Of course, I suppose I might need a pellets - my (maybe wrong) impression is that some boilers like/need pellets and others chips.

Keep your eye open on Ebay.  All sorts of stuff comes up on there, problem is pickup as they can be at the other side of the country and France is a big  country when you want to go a look at something !

The other thing to consider is if your going to be using the chipper on a regular, rather than occasional basis, you  need to be looking at professional stuff, probably tractor pto driven so you're into 1000s and 1000s of euros, but do the  sums and it would probably pay for itself over a few years.

  14. Graye,  why is that a joke ????  Very practical compared  to trailering 200kgs of pine [:D]

Baked Beans are over a euro a tin so a couple of crates of them makes alot of sense me thinks.

I'd  add  to the list  proper Cheddar Cheese  aahh c'est bon [kiss]

I checked a few camera forums, and found this http://www.fixya.com/support/t199663-problem

Could it be that the CDC has died, and needs replacing?  It might be worth reading this too http://www.konicaminoltasupport.com/English.importantnotice_en.0.html  as, although your model isn't mentioned, it does seem as if there was a manufacturing problem with some CDCs.
I think you mean the CCD - charged coupled device, and if it were that it wouldnt be taking pictures at all.

  16. Now this is a wind up - it is Sunday I suppose [6]

How would you economically inflate what is going to be a huge bag quickly enough to protect the vehicle [:'(] [8-)]

and what about people who get in the way ????

It would cost a fortune to make and would be very difficult, if not impossible to fit to modern cars.

Best off,  just get a 4x4 and fit lots of protective steel work, works a treat, you win all the time [:D]

  17. Chuck it.  They are of  major concern to those who worry about CO2 emissions.  They are a symbol of high disposable income and generally owned by people who dont worry about fuel costs and not very effective, just put another woolie on - come on !   Just my 2 eurocents worth  [:D]
