  1. Is there anyone else out there like me, who live in an area of France which is unable to receive ADSL? I don't live in the back of beyond, but after a bit of research, found that I live just too far from my local telephone exchange (over 7kms telephone line distance) and as a result, the power/signal is too weak. Most of the commune can get it, but only a measly 512kbps. Seems that the closer you are to the exchange, the quicker the speeds available. There is a website on which you can test your line at http://www.123adsl.com and if you can't access ADSL by 'normal' means, it suggests satellite as an option. This actually works out pretty expensive, as bi-directional (send and receive emails) systems start at about 100 Euros/month! Mono-directional (receive emails only) systems start at around 10 Euros/month, although the 30 Euro packages would work out cheaper. The problem is that you still need a dial-up link to send messages, so that's more expense! Does anyone have one of these satellite packages? If so, are they any good? Or is there another alternative? Tony
  2. The little green frogs are what we call Tree frogs, or Rainettes as the French call them. Yes they get everywhere, and it doesn't seem to matter what you do they always seem to return. Until you create an environment which they don't like, ie as Tresco said, turning your heating on. They come and go chez moi much to the amusement of Ted my cat, who won't eat them, he just likes to watch and occasionally 'play' with them [:@]   Tony
  3. Hi Sue As you might guess from my thread looking for fellow skiers, Font Romeu is a little bit far from me, but not out of the question. I've heard it's meant to be quite good, but what is Pyrenees 2000 like? If you want any info on resorts this end of the Pyrenees, I have been to most of them.   Tony
  4. Hi I'm looking for any skiers or snowboarders, beginners or experts, who would like to join me in occasional days out slippin' and slidin' down the Pyrenean mountains! Like I said, beginners or experts, although experts might need to be patient as I've only had one full season as a snowboarder. I live in the Pyrenees Atlantiques, and am looking at visiting ski stations between Piau Engaly and La Pierre St. Martin, and possibly a trip or two into Spain. Many thanks Tony
