  1. Does anybody know where it is possible to buy alcohol-free wine, retail or internet, particularly in the Poitou-Charente region. I know this sounds blasphemous, but for drink drivers at parties, it sounds ideal. There seem to be any number of websites in the UK, selling French wine, but of course they don't deliver outside the UK. If the French produce this stuff, surely they sell it as well !
  2. We have a 'Chappee' combined water/CH oil boiler, about 7 years old. There seems to be a growing pile of debris accumulating beneath the flue. Does this indicate a problem, or does the flue need sweeping ? Any info would be appreciated.

We are also considering changing to an electric boiler (cheaper, reliable (ish) supply). Does anyone know if it is easy to switch, but keep the same pipework/radiators etc. We have a large 5 bedroom 'Charantaise' house. Any idea of size/cost of new boiler ?

    Thanks

  3. My wife and I are both retired (though not yet of retirement age, but not working) and following our early retirement, moved to live permanently in France 18 months ago. We are covered by my E106 until Dec 31 2006. We completed a tax return for the French system for year 2005 and have since received a bill from 'Contributions Sociales' for Social Service contributions. We were under the impression that as we are covered by the E106, we would not need to make such contributions. We are registered with CPAM and have received our Carte Vitales. We have read many letters and articles in magazines and newspapers, and they seem to suggest the same thing. Can anybody clarify the situation for us please.

PS Next year my wife will receive her E121, and once again, we assume this will protect us from contributions - right or wrong?
