    Hi flower ?? now i feel strange

    Sorry but that would not work  the  float would just dig in it's very heavy 

    what we used to do was buy hardboard to cover the floor and if you just leave the P/sheet as well it will help to keep the shine

    Hi to answer 1st question

    if laying the concrete floor from scratch you will need a powerfloat

    1st lay the floor and level to required finish hight do this by hand, steel floats

    2nd now this is the crucial stage is when you can walk on the floor with just an inprint of your boots say 5 to 10mm

    then lift the power float on to the slab then walk with the powerfloat (you have to adjust the angle of the blades to a slight angle)

     all over the slab to bring up the cream after this hand float again then wait till the floor is hard (very slight marking when walked on)

    powerfloat again (blades just about flat) this time with a paint brush just to sprinkle some water when floating

    3rd cover with plastic sheeting straight away to a) keep the shine and b) to stop it from drying out to quick

    also a good idea to soak with water and keep covered for abot 5 to 8 days

    ps powerfloats are quite heavy and when running tend to pull you when they rotate.

    Hi alex

    I don't know your plans so this is how i would do it (25+ years in building game)

    1st- about 1 foot to both side's of the beam dig down to below  what would be the finished level of the new floor say about 8" to 10"

    2nd - make up some strong concrete,  pour again below finished level

    3rd - after a good few days then support you main beam- ie acrowprop's

    4th - then you can work on the main beam i would dig down again about 8" to 10" below finished floor, build a shutter - wood or bricks  up to or above the beam then fill in with concrete again after a good week or two you can think of digging out dirt and removal of the supports

    the main thing is to support the main beam till it is safely back as the main beam

    but as i said i dont know your full plans for the building

    Hi how do you mean painted i worked in the building trade and what i think you may be talking about is

    a) you lay the concrete , screed and float it

    b) later the same day or the following day  spray or paint it with a type of cement retarder

    c) after a few days you powerwash the top layer (about 3 - 5 mm) of cement off which in turn leaves you with a pebble dash finish

     

    and its fine for a pool terrace is that any help

    Speed Cameras or wind up??

    yes i put up my hand as well for speeding I have a Honda Blackbird which is a 200mph bike

    i've done over 170mph on m/ways and track days drove up the A9 (60mph limit) in Scotland at over 130mph now that road is a killer not for speeding but for people who do 40-50mph  and hold up

    people who need to get to work and the likes so try to overtake at any chance

    the only time i've had any trouble is a) very poor roads ie pot holes and the likes b) in town with cars and people pulling/walking out in front of me

    ps i dont drive like that all the time and i hate being told what to do all time thats why i moved to france because the way GB is going i would have ended up in jail for speeding while the killer and the like would be walking the streets 

    Black and yellow lizards

    Hi I live in dep 23 and for about 3-4 weeks now i have came across these Black and Yellow lizards (all dead due to being run over) 

    the latest one was tonight when out with a walk with the dog  I finaly came across a live one about 5 " long

    now unlike the liziards up at the house this one just stoped dead in its tracks and did the whole  "im dead just leave me alone" type of stunt

    so now for the big Q What kind of lizard is it and I hope not any kind of threat to my dog its just that its a very black shade with two very bright shades of wavey yellow running down its back

    Hi i now live in region 23 with a bit of work to do around the house i'm looking to buy a JCB/Case type digger

    now I did have a licence when back in scotland but been out of date for a few years now and i'm thinking of startting up on my own as a self/employed owner driver can anyone help with how to start

    1 - is there a licence i need or a test ??

    2 -what would i be classed as for tax

    Hi all

    we live in Dep 23 with one more trip back to Scotland in about 6 weeks time

    now we have a german sheperd bitch (a former stray) but the most loyal friend ever. she's about 2.5 years old and feel that she need company

    What we are looking for is a address for a animal shelter where we can offer a pet a good home
