  1. Yes I remember Russethouse, god that seems such along time ago.  For those that dont know, we sold everything in England, and came to France, the difference being we had never been to France before [8-|], so you can imagine some of the comments that I got, but you are right Russethouse it did not put us off. I am still here and still loving it [:D].

PS must remember Russethouse has long memory [Www].

  2. We have a barn attached to our house. We put plans in to make the downstairs half in to a small gite. Reply was NO. They called it a piggery, so we are not allowed to use it. We can apply for change of use, but because we live in a agricultural area we are only allowed up to a 20m extension. We did go and see an architect, who said he could get us planning for the 20m, but it can only be used for ourselves, we would not be allowed to rent it out.
  3. Thanks for all the time people have spent on this. Now je ne sais pas = I dont know Je ne connais pas = I dont know (person town). je ne sais pas = I dont know Je ne connais pas = I dont know (person town). je ne sais pas = I dont know Je ne connais pas = I dont know (person town). je ne sais pas = I dont know Je ne connais pas = I dont know (person town). je ne sais pas = I dont know Je ne connais pas = I dont know (person town). Gettting there.[:D]

Ignorer = Dont bother [Www], I like this one.

  4. Now now children, Sarah was not asking for you to fall out, she was asking what was best for her mother. I have just read her posting, I cannot find anywhere it says she was going to bring her mother over and not reg her here, she was asking if you have to, or what would be better for her mum. Just a list of who to speak with, or where to go would have been nice.

Some of these replys would put anyone off coming to live here.

  5. Hi Jimmy, I did say I was sorry for the spelling. My books are in the car because I had a French lesson today, it was raining so I didnt, want to go out in the rain and fetch them. Yes I know I am very lazy.[blink]  I get headache because I have problems with any written language, like mixing up i and e, if 2 words have a slight difference, then I can not see that difference [8-)], etc etc. That does not mean I will let your language defeat me, I will win, it just might take me a little longer. I have learned a great deal, but I am having problems speaking French, I think mainly I dont get to practice much. really its a confidence thing, but I am getting there.
  6. I have filled the forms in at the Mairie, and he has no problem with me opening the B&B. I thought that was it, because it is not my main income, except putting what I earn on the end of year tax form. If I went to the cdc, would that not be classed as another biz, with all the monthly payments. Is there somewhere else that you can go? or do I need to go any where else.

  7. Hi all

We have reg our B&B with the Marie, do we have to reg anywhere else. This is not our main income. Also do we still need a licence for serving coffee and tea? I have an appointment with the accountant but thats not untill May.

  8. I dont think that is possible. If she spends more than so many days in France, then she will have to reg here. It is very simple, she can keep everything in uk, she can open a bank account here and even get her pension paid in euros from the UK to her French account. She can get a E121 from England for her health care, but France only pay 70% and then you buy a top up, so England will only pay 70%. You dont have to buy a top up, but remember if she became ill you would be expected to pay the short fall. Thats it really, Im sure if I am wrong someone will come on and tell you., but really you would be better to telephone the English help lines and they would be able to tell you everything you need to know.

Oh just a thought I dont know where she would be taxed, but someone else will tell you that.

    Hope this helps alittle
