  3. Hi Guys

I have moved to the Northern alps and am looking forward to travelling around Europe by train. I am 31 years old and was wondering if there is a rail card i can purchase to get some saving on train fares.

If not is it best to book in advance or just turn up at the train station on the day . Also is there a website to book the tickets through or just through rail europe.

    Hope some one can help

  9. Hi Paul ,

We have just done the very same. We live in Jersey and are buying a property in France. We were therefore in Jersey when the Acte De Vent had to be signed. A copy of the Acte was sent to us for us to check with our lawyers. We were also sent a power of attorney which gave the notaire in France the authority to sign it on our behalf. We signed the power in front of a notary public in Jersey, who also signed and stamped it. We then had to get the document legalised. I believe it has to be done this way and it can not just be signed by the buyer.

  10. Hi There ,

I am aking out a Mortgage with Credit Agricole , as it is for a small buisness they have told me that it is a professional mortgage ( my business will pay the mortgage). They have quoted 5,20 % fixed for 15 years . This sound quite high . Are french professional mortgages higer then a home mortgage .

Also is there a Land Registration fee to pay on the mortgage.

    Hope someone can help

    Kind Regards

    Paolo

  11. Hi There

We are in the process of building a property in the alps and were going to purchase the property outright. We have now decided to take a small mortgage . We have been told there is a land registration fee based on how much you borrow . They have given us a figure which seems quite high . Is this the case in France and is there a website that details the percentages relating to the land fees,as i have only been given a figure and not the percentage .

    Hope you can help
