I'm sure the answer is already on the forum but here goes. With a great deal of effort I have uncovered my fosse septique (loo only) Its round, concrete, 1000l capacity but with no hatch to give access for emptying, and the guys are comming toe empty it on monday or tuesday. My French neighbour is very happy to take a chisel to the top and cement on a capping after it has been emptied. The problem is that the overflow smells, even though vast ammounts of WCNet's special bacteria have been sacrificed to the fosse deity. Is my French neighbour sane? Am I too fussy? Should I just give in to "local knowledge"?

A French neighbour recommended using Parexlanko mortier pierre. Its lime based. Unfortunately it's rather expensive at 65E for 40Kg, however having used it on my fireplace today it seems to do the job. My neighbour says that it will work on outside stonework.. . My local Tout Faire stockist had it in stock. Best wishes to all

Apart from replacing a damageed block what is the best molrtar to repair cracks and other damage to stonework. In particular I have a fireplace which requires some work. Also some of the facing of exterior stone has crumbled.

I just checked the HIFX website. I insure thru SAGA. I think their conditions are less restrictive than HIFX, especially the condition to maintain at all times a temperature of 55. I reckon that would cost me more than anything I would save re the premium. Anyway as has been said before the worth of an insurance policy is directly related to what happens when u claim, and Saga have the best record of customer service of any Brit company (I dont have shares)Mike
