  1. [quote user="Suze"]Well done Gay, I 'only' managed 3 in the 1st week.

To do a ticker go to tickerfactory.com and follow the instructions. When you have finished making it you get a choice of different web addresses for it - use the one called BB Code, highlight it all and press Control and 'c' then on your post here do Control 'V' - it should appear when you preview the message.

    Thank-you!

  2. I'm feeling very pleased with myself! 7 lbs lost over 16 days, this includes drinking too much wine & vodka on Atkins in the first week.  However i've taken a break from Atkins and the alcohol and am eating small quantities frequently and drinking at least 3 huge mugs of green tea every day. I've given myself a goal of another 7 lbs over the next 2 weeks.

I'd like to do a ticker too, anyone like to help me and Russethouse make one?

  3. Some of my favourite things of being in France.

Looking out for the first coquelicot (field poppy) to appear on the side of the road.  The next thing you know the corn fields are a fantastic blur of gold and red!

    Lilac, white & pink lillies.

The smell of the accacia trees.

Millions of glorious sunflowers whizzing by as you drive down endless country roads with the windows rolled down.

Superb entertainment from professional artists and musiciens that costs a fraction of what we would pay in Britain.

Beautiful clear skies at night without a single street lamp to spoil it all.

Ice cold muscat on a summer evening.

My seven year old daughter really is seven (not 7 going on 17!)

I could go on and on - I haven't even got to Autumn & Winter yet!

    I love France!!

  4. [quote user="Dicksmith"]What I love about France:

    • Good restaurants close by at reasonable prices

    • Peace and quiet after the hurly-burly of working in a London comp./living on a main road.

    • Playing house (no, honest - it works a lot better than our UK house)

    • Excellent produce in the supermarkets.

    • Friends visiting.

    • Softer weather and sitting out in the evenings.

    • Wildlife - birds and bats and things that go scrit-scrit in the night.

    • Being on our own but together.

    • Diablo Menthe.

    • Wine and pastis taste better.
    What I don't like:

    • Rotten internet connection.

    •  Not much else, really.

  5. I did a concert 2 weeks ago for "la journée de la femme" in aid of an association called ISES  for abused women in the 31 department [email protected]. I was violently abused as a child right through to my early twenties by my mothers partner as were my 3 younger sisters, I got so much satisfaction singing for and then sharing my experiences with these very fragile women, and they in return were amazed to see that you CAN change your whole world around through music, travel and like me rebuild your dignity.  Domestic violence SHOULD NOT be something that is taken for granted, just turning up at some of these Maisons des Associations and chatting with victims can make a huge difference to their self-esteem.[Y]
  6. Hi Neil,

I learnt french watching french dubbed american soap operas.  Because the storylines are so monotonous and repetitive you can pick up loads of phrases very quickly.  Good luck, and have a lovely holiday

Its not a question of not being allowed Twinkle, it was a request as one of the contributers to this thread has extremely poor eyesight.[A]

PS Hope you enjoy your party !

No problem!  Not being funny but right now I wish I was hard of HEARING I think it's time I put this pyjama party to bed[;)]

  8. [quote user="Deimos"]What sort of problems. You probably need to give a bit more information about what you want help on if you want people to help. Ian[/quote]

I'm sorry but you leave me no choice!  The problem is that I keep falling down them and breaking my crown!  Sorry, sorry, sorry[A]

SB, after being here for nearly 2 years, we were let into the (open) secret that there is a spring. I can't remember the word for it, but people come from Miles to get their water, which has travelled from the Massive Central all the way to Charente Maritime.

Sorry, that's the best I can do.

I wouldn't want to be digging a well myself, and believe me, it would be ME that had to dig it. No doubt there is an expert water finding person who is a member who can give you more practical advice.

    Source, sweetie!
