1.
It's quite sweet, but I would have preferred the focus to be on the soft furnishings in the background. They look great! Hang on, is that a loaf of bread the dog is in?
Don't you mean his armchair?
2.
That's reassuring. I was nearly 42 when I came, and age does make a difference. I can follow most things, even films without subtitles now, but it is really hard, and sometimes I clam up completely when trying to speak with people. It's so frustrating. Someone posted recently a link to an article about the effects on teenagers, when their parents bring them here. There was a part of it that likened the experience to asphasia (what stroke victims go through) and I could really understand that. All the words are there (in a way), but you just can't get them out. I do have the odd dream in French. When I can understand them I'll feel a bit happier![:)] Some of them are very intriguing. LOL
I know how frustrating it must be, but you'll get there just a bit slower! KKK will sympathise with you, she has all the words too, it's like she's swallowed a french dictionary when she comes over here and she just spurts them all out over the poor bewildered locals! She's brilliant, they love her[:P]
3. Dick's got loads of hair, but I think Micki's bald.
4.
My website is knackered, and I can't change it at the moment, need to start again again. You can find a piccy of the real Miki if you can find his website, but you'll get no help from me!
I've just had a butchers, now, I do believe there is a rather handsome man underneath all the hair![;-)]
5.  Honestly, I was quite young when I came here to live (23) so I was socialising a lot, the more you speak the language the more you learn and very quickly.  After 6 months I could follow all conversations and make myself understood.  They say that you've really mastered a foreign language once you start dreaming in that language, this happened to me after 2 years.
6. By the way I Googled images and Twinkle and came up with loads of photos but just realised that if you click on the last one i posted it's a website for a chat room, I SWEAR I had no idea please don't shout Russ. [:$]
7.
www. on the bottom of his avatar thing next to pm. (you really let yourself down sometimes) Or go to bed and catch up on a bit of sleep.  PS like your new picture.
Thank you KKK, I'll have a look.  Glad you like my photo wish I could work out how to transfer it onto my avatar thingymajig, however, as you well know this photo ressembles me the most [:D]
8. Anytime sweetie, I don't know much but I can speak the lingo[;-)]
9.
Oh crikey, I forgot to answer your questions about the sellotape. What is sellotape in French? I need to buy some soon. Very soon.
Just ask for "un rouleau du Scotch", I know i'm being silly to-nigt but that really is the word for it.  Would I lie to you my dear Tresco?[:)]
10. Can somebody give me Mr Smiths web site - apparently he's a babe and I just wanted a little peek before I go to bed?
11.

Has anyone seen a hearing ear dog? I saw a bloke with one on a train recently. What's all that about?
They train the dogs to  to recognize and alert his/her owner to  things like, the baby has fallen in the bath, there is someone knocking at the door, alarm clocks,  telephones, smoke detectors going off etc.  Some of these are a bit odd, as the only profoundly deaf person I knew had the house rigged up with lights going off when most of these things happened. However, there are things going on in the street too, and the dog can help there. Puppy Power!
Do you think they train them to listen to their record collection?[:P]
12. Oh no! Mr Smith's here I'm really gonna get in trouble for that - I'll go to the back of the forum sir and I won't say another silly thing![:$]
13. Try this link KKK http://www.thepetprofessor.com/articles/article.aspx?id=110 but to be honest I think your dog is trying to attract your attention, swallowing socks (oops nearly spelt  that incorrectly) is his way of saying "Mummy, get off that bloody forum and come and play with me!" Your OM will be doing it soon if you're not careful[Www]
14. Yes KKK you could actually put your socks in a sock drawer.[:P]
15.   "Anyway, the hubby is away on business tonight" Vous etes trĂ©s naive Mme KKK[:D]
16. "Non quand je parle francais. Example a l'ete (C'ete) and all that stuff that I say in french which means something completely different to french people.  A bit like that translation mimi posted on the american thread." Yeah, like when you speak english[:P]
17.
Trying to speak french and making everybody laugh.  eg telling the locals there is butter in the cake I made and really I told them it contains hashish.  Saying see you in the summer and really I was talking about breast feeding.  Telling them my son has a kind heart when really I was talking about the size of his anatomy.
What? You mean the way you speak english?
18. Hello Katie, You didn't last long did you?  The squirrel is holding a rose and the rabbit is hanging on a washing line (I think) and YOU should be holding your breath  and posts for at least another 3 weeks!  Well, if you're back then at least get with the thread and tell us what is great about France (apart from me being here[;-)]!)
19.
I just watched BBC news on TV and saw that Tom Jones got a knighthood.  That's one of the best things about France - no titles for anybody, and certainly none for nobodies. It's always been a mystery to me how the talentless gargoyle ever got a record made, let alone managed to sell any. You don't think he paid Blair a few hundred thousand, do you? Patrick
Sorry, are you calling Tom Jones a nobody?  Ok - who am I to decide who deserves a knighthood or not? But  please don't say that the man is a "nobody".
20. 20 year old!  sweet dreams Tresco[A]
