I've been to Paris and California and ...anywhere I could roam. Oh baby I've been to Paradise but I've never been to me!
As far as you like, I did the Tour de France one year with Europe 1 radio as our sponsors, we played a concert at every etape the cyclists arrived at. I know this country like the back of my hand, I don't get to sight see too much though 'cos' as soon as we get there and set up it's time to eat, play and then hit the road again for the next gig. I do get to meet loads of super people though and taste all the different dishes and wines of the region...yummy!! I've played loads and loads in the Lot - beautiful region - I love the whacky roofs on the houses[:)]
I played near Santes a couple of years ago and we did the Fete du Cognac - that's near you isn't it my lovely?

I have found that the Welsh and the Dutch have the best accents to adopt the french language. Even though I've been here for 17 years even after the first two years many french people where surprised when they found out I was not a local. I learned french when I came to live here and so I learned to speak with the regional accent which is rather strong. If I am singing in Brittanny or Central France people will ask me where in 'le sud' I come from.

Yes it is - which is why we viewed a move to Brittany with a little apprehension (and why we are renting as yet) as we were told it was similar to Cornwall - warm but very moist and humid. Maybe it is our little corner of Morbihan but we have not found the rain to be a problem. We have very occasionally - I think a couple of times this winter - had rain which lasted most or all of the day, but usually if we have rain it is in the form of showers - some heavy - which blow away very quickly and normal service resumes.
As I said we are still reviewing the situation, but when it got to 40 degrees last July and I was still OK even my OH had to admit it was warm enough for him - and he can cope with baking heat. It helped mitigate the twinges of guilt I sometimes feel in that OH has to 'put up with Brittany' [:)][Www][:D] if he wants to stay with me.

Edit: Apologies but my OH has just told me sternly that I made a big mistake in my previous post - twas not the Charentes (16 and 17) which I found too hot, it was when we were in the St Emilion region one June and we experienced cyclic heat/storm/heat/storm which played havoc with my arthritis. It seems my memory is going as well - gawd, what will go next?

Ian, there is no need for any of that. Just ask the newsagent to reserve it for you - only problem is you have to take it every day, maybe you just like to read one occasionally.

Just found some boots for me and Miki when he comes back!
Going to go and find the outfit now -
Just a small back-pack for the 4 year old to keep a morning and afternoon snack/drink in. I used to keep a plastic bag and a clean pair of knickers at all times in case of "accidents".[:)]

You're right KKK, Wales is great but they haven't got the red water and I just love how they appreciate it so much over here. I remember MY FRIEND Lorraine being so impressed by the way the french hold their glasses and the whole ceremony that takes place before they actually drink it. Whereas in Wales or Benidorm we just push a straw through the cork[:-))]

I often get asked by the staff in the local supermarket to interpret french goods into english for the 'local' Brits, I once taught Sylvie on the cheese counter how to say "Learn to speak french, madam" to a lady who's been holidaying here for years[:D] I love a giggle when I'm shopping!

I am tri -lingual - english french & welsh and I have been a widow since my master was put in chains and told to put a sock in it[:(]

I am glad you find the northwaleans a friendly bunch. I think what gripes them most is people like me who cannot speak the language of my country. A language which they so fiercly try to preserve. I would love to be able to speak welsh but it is a very difficult language to learn and I feel this priviledge was stripped from my ancestors at a very young age
Incidentally, when I was at school we had a breton student teacher who was with us for a year and because of the similarities between welsh and breton claimed as he was leaving that he was almost fluent in welsh.
