  1. Lately the BBC have been showing advertisements showing how you can take their BBC Iplayer programmes, downloaded, with you on the train etc using your phone or tablet. I have an Asus fonpad (Nexus 7 by another name), I also use a VPN. When I access BBC Iplayer and choose my programme, it allows me to watch it but there is no facility to download it. I am using Iplayer on my computer so it is unlikely to be 'driver error', does anyone have any information on how to over come this?

  2. I did look through old posts but they seemed to all refer to internal pointing. I am about to start on pointing the external walls of our 400 year old Languedoc Mas. I have researched as much as possible and through lots of conflicting information. However I need to start and therefore just want any last minute advise.  I am going to use a soft sand and chau mix of 3 to 1, put in by hand and brushed finish a couple of hours later. I am open to suggestions as to changing this, what do you think?

  3. After a bit of research I seem to have found the problem with my pool is 'PH lock'. I have a very high alkalinity reading and the suggested remedy is to dilute the pool water with fresh water....................however.........................I also did a test on our tap water (forage) and found it also has a very high alkalinity (245). Does anyone know of a product I could purchase from the pool shop which would help or does anyone have another suggestion.

    Thanks

  4. Well thanks for your help so far however I still cannot send E-mails from my Wanadoo address (or any other address come to that)!

I am on Windows Live mail (used for ages with no problems). My settings are now as follows

    Servers

    Incoming - POP3

    Incoming mail - pop.orange.fr

    Outgoing mail - smtp.orange.fr

    Advanced

    Outgoing mail(smtp) port 25

    Incoming port 110

Do I tick "This server requires a secure connection" I tried both ways without sucess.

Can you suggest anything else to try?

  5. Totally fed up with smtp.com as mail send has totally failed. Can anyone tell me what I need to change on my pop3 'thingy' to get mail sent by Orange instead. I am abroad working at the moment so have limited access to internet but if anyone can help with short instuctions (Quillan perhaps)! I would be very grateful.

  6. Thanks for

your reply. I use my laptop at present with my ‘G’ router and it works well. I

stream frequently (especially in the football season) and I do get some ‘buffering’

not a lot but some. My thoughts are that as my router is about 8 years old it

might be a good time to upgrade and see if ‘N’ makes any difference. We are

about 5 Kms from the ‘source’ and I hoped that the download speed might be

    improved…..no?

  7. Thanks Pierre. I do need the best speed possible for streaming and hope that this will improve on my existing G standard router. My laptop is set for N standard so that's not a problem. I dont know about line speed I top out at 54 Mbps at present and hope to increase that. I have also looked at

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Billion-BiPAC-7800N-Broadband-Wireless-N/dp/B002TOKGL8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344518983&sr=8-1

Another friend has commented about The Cisco "It makes no reference to providing ADSL2 interface. It is just a wireless

router." This I don't really understand, I just want something to let me pick up streamed video on my laptop without a wired connection, do you think either of these, The Cisco or the Billion would do that?

  8. At present I am using a Netgear 54Mbps wireless router. I want to upgrade to a dual band 'N ' router. I have seen something which I think will do the job (i.e. alow me to pick up the internet wirelessly on my laptop) however would like a 'Techie' to confirm for me that this is the right thing. It can be found at

    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/network-wifi/3264682/cisco-linksys-e4200-review/

Would this do the job? Thanks for the help

  9. Stop putting salt in the pool and start putting multi-function gallets in the skimmers (or chlor lent ones). I had exactly the same problem 4 years ago and did this, no problem since, however do watch how much multi function you use or cyuranic acid levels can be a problem.

  10. Thanks again Quillan for your help. My outgoing mail is hosted by SMTP.com. A week or so ago I noticed that none of my e-mails to other Wanadoo/Orange addresses was being received. To cut a long story short, SMTP said Orange had blocked all SMTP mail due to 'a problem' (someone spamming I assume). They said they were on the case and would let me know when the matter was resolved. In the interim I wanted to try to change my outgoing mail host back to Wanadoo, that was the reason I was looking for help. All is now solved and working fine. We are in Sicily later this year and my wife will try using port 26 to send mail.

    Best wishes

    Bob

  11. This is the error message

The connection to the server has failed.

    Subject 'test'

    Server: 'stmp.com'

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E

    Protocol: SMTP

    Port: 26

    Secure(SSL): No

    Socket Error: 10060

I have tried ports 25, 2525,587 and 26 all to no avail. As server I have tried stmp.orange.fr as well as stmp.com, think I tried stmp.wanadoo.fr as well. This error message just been received so the suggested port 26 didn't work :(

    Regards

    Bob

  12. Thanks to all for the replies so far, however having tried the different set up's and ports suggested nothing seeems to work. Quillan, I am not outside France however the problem is a replication of the problem my wife has (with exactly the same set up on her laptop) when she is abroad, i.e. can receive but not reply. Does anyone have the number for the Orange helpdesk in English? Once again many thanks to all.
