  1. For many years I have been able to receive Sky Sports channels via my Ipad as long as I have my VPN connected. Yesterday however things changed and even with the VPN on a message appears saying 'we cannot verify that you are in the UK'. This happens with location services on or off. Now I know that BT Sport have used location services to ensure that users are in The UK for a long time, do we now think Sky are doing the same thing and, if so does anyone know a workaround for this?
  2. Firstly can I thank everyone who replied to my initial post. Special thanks to Quillan for his extensive reply. I have decided however not to go down the 'wood' road, I'm no spring chicken and the thought of having to get up a ladder sometime in the future to get them down to paint really doesn't appeal. The aluminium ones are guaranteed for 15 years and by then I probably won't know what a shutter is (or the kids can sort it if they want to inherent the house). Anyway, next job is erecting a panneau fence, wish me luck!
  3. Hi

We are looking to replace old, rotten wooden shutters on a 400 year old mas. We are considering aluminium shutters. Has anyone any experience of them, recommendations etc. First salesman is quoting about 700 euros per pair all inclusive. Any information would be appreciated.

  4. It may be dish size but can I suggest you try the following first. Connect up your Sky box to the TV and co-axial cable but NOT the mains, remove the viewing card.

Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on. Wait until all 4 lights on the front of the box come on then release the BACKUP key. You then wait for about 10 minutes or so (until the 4 lights go out again). Turn the box and TV on, you should have the signal back. This is really just a forced upgrade for the software but it works in a large number of cases of 'No signal being received'. Hope this helps.
  5. I have just purchased, privately, a second hand car. The car had a new CT done just before my purchase and has the relevant window sticker. I have had to register the vehicle in my name and, a part of this process I now have a new number plate. My problem is that this means that the number plate shown on the CT does not now match the new number plate on the vehicle. Can anyone tell me if anything needs to be done about this.
  6. Today's conundrum. I use a Satlink WS 6908 meter and with this, set on transponder 78 I have happily installed about a dozen dishes around here achieving a good signal, usually within about 10 minutes or less. Today I have spent about 3 hours on my gite roof with the same size dish I have been installing and have got nothing! I took the meter up to the house and tried it on our telly which has a great signal and.............it reads nothing. Connections to the meter are all fine as is the battery, other than the thing has totally packed up any other ideas?
  7. Hi Joidevie

I have had exactly the same experience here in The Languedoc. I spent 2 hours on a roof today trying to get a strong signal without success even though I have fitted about 6 similar dishes over the last few weeks and they normally took about 10 minutes or less to find signal. At our gaf we have lost BBC on 101 and 102 etc as well as HD. We still get the regional BBC though and that is with a 115cm dish Something is going on and it's not just the strong wind.
  8. An update from the deep south, Herault (34) close to Pezenas. The normal dish size here (pre-apocalypse) was 80cm with some getting by with 60cm. After the sat change MOST with an 80cm lost signal from spotbeam 2e (trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about...fail) but about 30% still get all channels on the original 80cm dish. We, sadly were not in the 30%. Today we had fitted a 1 metre dish and I supplied a new quad LNB as the existing one was about 6 years old. All channels now back up and running, we have a rainy/windy day today (most unusual) but almost no picture disturbance at all. I hope this report helps the techies, any more info required just shout.
  9. We are in the Herault, 10 minutes outside Pezenas. Varying results here, we have lost all BBC with an 80cm dish as have most people. A couple of friends are still receiving BBC 1 from various regions (Scotland and North East) with 80cm dishes so I think we are on the cusp with 80cm and will probably be OK with 1 metre dish. This is not from a techie though and I might try to adjust the skew on my LNB to se if that helps.
