  1. Thanks to all for responding on the Planning permission question. We have decided to apply for permission as it appears that LEGALLY it is required, although the various Maire's have differing view points. With my luck I'd end up getting caught - stopping  for 2.9 seconds instead of 3 at a Stop sign near Gond Pontouvre cost me 90 euros the other day ( yes, I know all the men are now saying 'serves her right' and the women are saying 'policemen are pigs!' ). My question now is, on the Permis de Construire form  section 6 asks how many 'pieces principales' are being created. I understand this means 'main rooms' and somewhere in the back of my mind I'm sure I've read that bathrooms are not classed as 'principale' but I couldn't swear on it.  Does anyone know? We are adding 2 bedrooms and 2 shower rooms. Is this 2 or 4 'pieces principales'. If possible I'd be grateful for a response from someone who has applied for this permission or definately knows someone who has and has been successful? Thanks again, Shelagh
  2. We were looking at Parex today. Is it the same type as is used to render a house i.e. is there only one Parex? We could only see one type but it appeared to give details on how to us it with a rendering machine?!  How far does a 25kg sack go? Thanks for your help, Shelagh
  3. As a diversion to take our minds off the planning permission problem, we thought we'd turn to 'pointing'. We need to re-point internal and external stone walls and wonder if anyone can recommend the correct mix, specific brands and where to buy etc. The internal wall is about 12 metres square. We want to leave as much stone showing as possible rather than 'butter'. Any ideas and suggestions gratefully received.......unless it's someone saying we need 'premissions' to re-point!!!!!!!! Shelagh
  4. Fistly - hello!! We are old members but new users of the forum. Secondly.......HELP!!!!  Sorry about the length of the next question, please stick with it  We are converting our loft into two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We will not be changing the external appearance of the house i.e. no windows, velux etc. We understand we need a Permis de Construire for this ( section 4.2 - amenagement pour l'habitation d'une partie de la maison ou de ses annexes ( grenier ) ). We visited the Maire and he said we didn't need any paperwork as we weren't changing the exterior, however after reading some horrow stories about works needing permission and not getting it, we have decided to go for the permissions and risk upsetting the Maire. What I cannot understand from the application is which supporting documents I need to send. With my computer translation programme ( !! )  I think the reverse of the form asks for: 1. Situation plan at 1/25000th 2. 3 dimensional plan showing the situation in relation to other buildings, water supply, electricity and sewage 3. Plans of outside with drawings of closures (?? ) 4. Cross sectional drawings 5. 2 photos at least, showing on the situational plan where they were taken from ( external ) 6. A graphic showing what the building will be like when built ( obviously not neccessary? ) 7. A description of how the work will impact on surroundings, visual aspect of the area etc I can't see why we would need to send all of the above for internal work only? Has anyone done just internal work, keeping below the 170m limit and had a Permis de Construire passed ok? If so, what did you send. Finally, as a second option, I have read quite a lot of people who have carried out the work without permission and tols the tax office of the increased living space afterwards. Has anyone out there done this? Who exactly do you tell and how? Did it cause any problems or questions regarding Planning permission. Looking forward to your responses, Shelagh
