  1. Andy thanks for the info, I found the IBAN number on my statement, have been to La Poste and filled in the forms for transfer. The cost for less then 12500€ was 2,95€. Have also filled in the forms to setup the uk account online for future transfers. Will be interesting to see what charges I get hit with at the other end and what exchange rate they'll offer.
  2. Hi, I have an account with La Poste here in France and also a UK bank account, can anyone help/suggest a way I can move money from my La Poste to UK. Can I write a french cheque in euors and pay it in? or are there ways to do this on-line? thanks in advance
  3. nothing confusing here, if you move to another country then you follow the rules and law of that country. If you wish to keep your UK car then there's plenty of info available about re-registering, so what if it's a bit difficult, moving aboard is always going to throw up challenges. Ignorance or laziness or trying to save a few bucks is no excuse in law! On a recent trip back to the UK I noticed a number of UK plated cars parked up in customs, when I asked the customs guy why, he told me they were all cars that have been impounded as they had no road tax or MOT, not the best way to start your holiday or visit back home, is it?
  4. If you have a Picard near you try them, that's where I get mine from here in 14. Now if only I could find the pastrami to put into them, yum.
  5. however I find that on some modern cars it's no longer possible to change a bulb at the roadside or even at home. Last year I had to take my car (Reanult Clio) to the garage where at one point there where 3 technicians stood around the car wondering how to get to the lamp unit. The cost of the labour was more then the bulb. Would this reasoning work with the gendarmes, maybe not so this posting has prompted me to go out and buy all the kit needed.
  6. There was an english cat called "one two three" and a french cat called "un deux trois" they decided to have a swimming race, which cat won?         The english cat because un deux trois quatre (cat) cinq (sank)............
  7. please! aka SVP! here how UNFAIR is this, the powers that be have deleted SVP! from the system, no PM no warnings, just a big delete. I make no further comment on this action, I'll let the people decide for themselves.
