1. Hello All

We have a house in Montpezat D'Agenais , Lot-et-Garronne which has underfloor heating and cooling via a Geothermie

Sadly the boiler is not working and despite our best attempts we have had no joy in getting it repaired - probably due to the fact that the engineers we have had don't appear to understand it! We are quite rural and the people we have had around are local to us and not really experienced in geothermal heating

It looks like we may have to opt for a new one - but are struggling to find anyone to supply one or advise if it could be repaired who are local to us.  We have tried to contact the manufacturers Atlantic IVT but again no joy

Does anyone have any suggestions / recommendations?? We would be eternally grateful - our nearest large town is Villeneuve sur Lot

    Many thanks

    Lou & Michelle

  2. Hello

We have underfloor geothermic heating in our home and are looking for an engineer in or around Villeneuve Sur Lot area who would be able to service / maintain the boiler

Does any one know of or able to recommend one?

I would be very grateful for any help

    Thanks

  3. Hello All - we have just finished our house in 47 after a long haul but keep being cut off by EDF because the bulider will not meet up with the EDF chap so we cannot obtain the Consuel

We are at the end of our tether with the builder who will now not respond to us at all!

We have been told by our French architect (who has been exceptionally good) that he knows of no other way of getting the Consuel and that the builder has to turn up and sort it out

Surely this cannot be the case?

Does anyone know how to contact the EDF or has been in the same situation as we are and can offer us a solution?

All replies would be most gratefully received

    Thanks in advance

  5. Hi Kim - sorry for not getting back sooner - yes I would definitely say that Barbaste is a better option than Casteljaloux - I think it would be better for your "tour" as well - which , incidentally , is where I'm about to head off for - but in county Clare in Ireland!! I hope the weather is as good over there as it is in France

    Hope all goes well

    Regards

    Lou

PS Am I thinking of the correct Montreal - near to Condom? - if so we holidayed there about 3 years ago - staying almost next to the site of the Roman ruins - a really beautiful place to be.

We are almost completing our renovation about 20 mins from Villeneuve at present and hope to get over a lot more often then - I'll keep you posted with any new golf course discoveries

  6. Hi Shropshirelass

Have played both Casteljaloux and Barbaste

Enjoyed both but Casteljaloux was quite dry in places but would definitely play again

I believe it was up for sale by the English owners who made a real effort for my son and I when we played there last year

Barbaste - also very enjoyable and the course in better condition than Casteljaloux - again the people were very welcoming

Have you played Villeneuve Golf & Country Club  ( main road from Villeneuve to Bergerac) We thoroughly enjoy this course and have played it a few times now - course is in great condition and has good facilities too

  7. Hi - we are recently back from moving in to our (almost) completed new home just outside Prayssas (20 mins from Villeneuve Sur Lot)

We have a new pool which needs to be looked after whilst we are not there - and are wondering if anyone on the forum knows or could put us in touch with a reliable and trustworhty person to look after it (for a price of course)

    Any information gratefully received

  8. Hi Shropshirelass

Your e-mail is exactly what we were thinking of - we are just having the finishing touches to our house in Lot et Garonne done and were thinking on the same lines - to buy a car rather than rent

We normally fly to Merignac direct from Manchester then rent through Avis

Anyone out there have any ideas?

  9. Hello all

Have just returned from France and still recovering from the shock of vacuum cleaner prices in the SW - well Agen actually -

So - daft question - can a UK vacuum cleaner simply have the UK plug cut off and a French one wired in?? I cant believe it's that simple and on that assumption does anyone know where to get a reasonably priced Dyson in or around Agen?

    Thanks

    Lou

  10. And so we begin.... after 18 months of renovation / builders - waiting ..waiting..waiting.. head scratching.. arguments .. and why was the actual price so different to the original quote... and convincing ourselves that we really have loved all of it  (yes you know what we mean) we have been given a date to start moving furniture in - yippee!!

So! How do we get the furniture from Manchester area to Lot et Garonne (Agen area)?

We are thinking of hiring a transit van and driving , via the tunnel , stopping over outside Paris and then completing the trip the day after.

Are there any other better or easier ways?

This is the question of the day to all of you that have done it before

Has anyone done it using the train? - once we get through the tunnel is there an option to get a train which will take a van from there to Agen ?

It would take the strain out of driving that route and be a lot faster too

Your opinions would be invaluable and most appreciated

Though we don't often post we are avid -daily readers - of the forum and have benefitted greatly from all the words of wisdom - thanks in advance

  11.
Just spoken to BMI Baby and was told that the Manchester to Bordeaux flights will stop running over the winter period (which we already knew) and there is no news about the route being dropped for nex...
Many thanks ClaraQ for putting my mind at rest - I'm afraid that despite ringing the BMI Baby helpline I still could not get them to confirm next years route will be ok - I'm glad you managed it!!

    Thanks again

    Lou

  12. We are regular travellers to Bordeaux direct from Manchester with BMI Baby

We rang to enquire about flights in October - as we could not get any joy from their web site - only to be told that the direct route Manchester to Bordeaux was finishing for good in October!!

Has anyone heard this or have any other info - and - indeed - if this is the case does anyone have any alternative flights to Bordeaux / Toulouse direct from Manchester??

    Lou & Michelle
