[free furniture]

I am just making an tentative inquiry if anyone needs some free

furniture which is nearly new. We live near Mouthe in the Doubs,

Franche comte and we are moving to Switzerland. The house we are buying

is furnished , I want to replace it with some of my furniture from

France. Basically I have been landed with 2 houses of furniture. There

is a mixture of single beds, double beds, wardrobes, side

table,shelves, tables small and long, I also have a dishwasher. If you

would be interested and can come and collect it then you can have it

for free. We won't be moving until the spring Feb/March 2008. I have

some photos of the furniture in situe but would suit someone setting up

home or Gite. Also there will some free furniture from the Swiss house,

this will be sideboads, garden furniture tables, chest of drawers,

chairs, beds etc.. We are moving to Vercorin which is about 2 hours

from Geneva and 2 1/2 hours from the French house. If we arrange a time

you can come with a van and fill up in France and fill up in

Switzerland. I can send photos and if interested give you an exact list

of what is available. it is all tasteful stuff, simple and plain from

IKEA, ATLAS not cheap and nasty.

[Help needed with regard to moving near Swiss border area.]

Hi Phil

Stubbled across your posting about living near Switzerland. We have a house we vist in Les Pontets which is near Mouthe about 20 mins south of Pontatlier. We love it there great in the winter and in the summer. It is like living in two different countries. I would look around Pontarlier and southwards around Lac St Point and then down to us. There are alot of people working in Switzerland and living n France around, In our village there must be at least 4 families, prices have gone up but you could find something. WE are in the doubs region which appears more affulent than the Jura. There seem to be less houses in the Doubs than the Jura where you could pick up a bargin. The Doubs is more expensive and I am sure there is a sub estate agent culture where houses come on the market without an estate agent seeing them, if you know what I mean. Hi there does anyone know of any company who could do some decking for us, We live in the south doubs 25, not many english here. We come over about 4 times a year and wanted to get a company to do the work, do I look for builder, carpenters, garden designers etc.. could anyone point us in the right direction,

Where abouts in the Jura? You might not be that far from us, we are about 40min north of Les Rousses. How long have you had a house there. We have had a house in Les pontets (mouthe) for about 2 years and we love it there, it is wonderful and I always look forward to coming to france. I wish I could come more often but works restricts my visits, I am hoping to come over in October Half term. I have 2 little boys aged 4 and 6 and they have a great time, lots of things to see and do etc..

Thanks so much for the info, What eaxtly do I need as far as extra fittings for the sinks, I do have an IKea in Switzerland about 40 mins away do you think it will be the same plumbing there as the french.

[Is anyone near dept 25/39 and needs some maintenance work]

Hi We have a house in between dept 25/39 Mouthe 20 min from Pontarlier, about 1.5 hours from Geneva and 1.5 from Dijon. I want to re-fit a kitchen re-do the shower room and have a deck fitted outside the house. It is a very easy new house but the owners before us put in very basic stuff when the house was built 15 years ago and it needs replacing. I want to replace the kitchen. It is a basic kitchen on a back wall not many units are needed but I want to make it more uniform and more up to date. The work would involve fitting units, plumbing in the sink and changing some electrics.

I want to replace the shower aswell which is bit old now. Also we want to put in a plain deck platform outside the french windows about 3 x 4 m. There is also small amount of electrical work to do aswell by putting in better ligthing in the sitting room, really just a replacement.

If anyone is interested I will organise all the basic materials and will be on hand to sort out any logisitcs. We are quite a busy family and do visit the house often but never have to time to do this sort of work because we have 2 small boys.

I would love to hear from anyone who might be able to help. I know there are not many Brits around here so if you are comging from afar then you can stay in the house.

Hi I wanted to put an ikea kitchen in my house in dept 25 (franche Comte) and thought I might bring one over from Ikea but is the plumbing the same. If anyone has used a UK ikea kitchen and brought it over to france I woul love to hear from them.

Also is there anyone our there who would be able to help us fit it or would like a job to fit it. I also have other jobs like changing the shower room and laying a deck outside, anyone who might be interested please get in contact
