i agree with you. i don't want to "have a go" but I find it so disapointing when this happens. I know animals aren't the same as children BUT they almost are to the point that I would go to the back of beyond to keep my pet.  i remember one day my dog ran off  the day before our annual holiday and we all agreed we could not go in case he came back when we had left so we lost the whole holiday and the following day he was brought back by the local dog warden.  We still love him, he's part of the family and gets treated the same as every one else.

  2. Exactly what you said..it stores the card details you originally paid with.  I had a problem with this once as I changed cards half way through the year and when I rang to see what would happen I was told to keep the old card to use at check in as it was for identification only.  I was using frequent traveller but now find it better value with my Tesco club card vouchers as £25.00 of vouchers gives me a £100.00 crossing value, therefore journet costs nothing depending on time ect.  You cant use vouchers for pets.
  3. Dont know the stats Im afraid but recently we visted some friends in the Limousin and she said she was removing about 10 or 12 ticks a day from her cat and dog.

Like I say i use Frontline every two weeks and have nt seen a tick on my dog since.

  4. As far as i know they are more likely to be in long grass. The best thing is to get the appropriate tick remover from your vet or Pharmacie they only cost a few euros for2 sizes.  Do not burn them off .  Use stronghold/frontline combo from your vet.  Cant remember which brand is best but vet will know. My vet recommends applying it every two weeks. i was using it every 4 and found that during the third week onwards he would start getting ticks again and since doing it 2 weekly have been tick free.  I also had mine vaccinated against the disease you can get from ticks think it was babliosis as it can and does kill dogs.
  5. Im sure you wont have a problem  I take medication and my UK doctor will give me three months in advance however last time I stayed on in France unexpectedly. I made an appt at the local doctor (first time im not a resident) I did not have my old prescription only the empty packet. he prescribed there and then and after asking what other medication i was on he then said did I want any of those. the appt cost 20 euros the prescription 6 euros all of which he said I could claim back through my e111. lo and behold they refunded it which i think is strange as in UK I have to pay for my subscriptions.

  6. Hi

I was taught today by my Prof to remember the 13 verbs that go with Etre by this

DRAPERS VAN  ( MMT 13)  THIS IS THE NUMBER PLATE OR MRS VAN DE TRAMP

Also that the perfect tense   (Passe compose) is a completed action in the past, something that has happened. All bar three can be paired up as

    to go/to come

    to arrive/to leave

    to go in/go out

    to go up/go down

    to be born/to die

    and finally

    to stay

    to fall

    to return

  7. Wish I did know, spent ages looking on their site yesterday, finally sent an e mail (not the right dept) but the only one I could find.  I know you need to send a letter but first I need to know if im under contract or not. originally when I took up the IDSL Im sure they said I could cancel giving one months notice but can find no evidence of this on my paperwork. It only sems to state what valid reasons there are for cancelling.  I dont hold out much hope for a reply as I have e mailed them on least 3/4 other occasions and have never had a reply yet.

  8. I had this dilema a few weeks ago.  I took a cake I had baked that day which she served up along with her own desert.  Everybody had a bit of both or you could either take some freshly cut flowers from your garden. I often take some of my roses.

    hope this helps

  9. It was not my intention to BUT I bought privately simply because after looking at all the properties my agent had shown me and not liking any of them, I just happened to go past a house and see a cardboard sign AV.  I  just rung the number arranged a visit and it went forward from there. My French is only basic school French and the chap spoke no english but we got through  the whole process although luckily the notaire I chose spoke some English and was very helpfull.  Im not necessarily advocating this but it worked for me.  As for all the utilities that was simple with the use of the internet and forums such as these.  Im sure most agents earn their money but know wants to pay for something if they can manage it themselves, obviously each set of circumstances is different.

If you use an estate agent I would advise a local French one who know the area and can sometimes come up with properties through word of mouth.

    Good luck

  10. Thanks Ron

Cant seem to get up what i would like, if you say no motorways it sends you via paris/Dreux/Orleans

They would still like the same route but wanted to use the motorway sections where the N or D roads were single carriage way so they dont hold up the traffic and then back on the N or D roads where they are dual carriage way.

Does anyone remember what the roads sections were like prior to the new A28.

    Thanks

  11. Hi

I travel down to 24 by the way of the new A16/ A28
    Calais

    Rouen

Alencon where I normally stop over

    Le Mans

    Tours

    Poitiers

    Angouleme

    Montpon

    Le fleix

My in laws are comming over but dont want to go motorway all the way. they will be in a camper van

After Rouen does anyone know which parts of the journey are not to bad if you go the route that normally runs along the motorway. If I remember correctly the bit that used to go Le Mans- Tours is single carriage way and a bit slow. Does anyone know which bits of the journey are best done on the motorway and which ones are ok on the alternative N roads.

    Cheers
  12. Think thats a good price if it includes a chip as well.  My dog was already chipped

the Rabies jab, blood test and passport was about £200 that was last year.

Chip is nornally about £40 extra
