  1. Hope someone can help. We would need to install oil-fired/gaz central heating  in a house we are thinking of buying in France. We would need between 10-12 rads for the size of the house. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much it costs to install and which system they went for. We are not DIY people but before I start getting quotes from plumbers etc, I think it is a good idea to have a rough figure in your head. Many thanks Lisa

  2. Can anybody let me know if there are any new travel regulations for what you must have in the car when travelling e.g. neon jacket, first-aid kit etc.

Someone has told my husband that from the 1st of July the French gov. introduced  a load of new things that you had to carry in the car and that the police are doing on the spot fines if you don't have everything and as we are coming over next Tues he is starting to freak out. Thanks Lisa

  4. Hi Anton & Charles

Thanks for the quick reply. If my roofer uses this airflex material does it mean I don't need a waterproof felt as he has give me a price of 1209.68euro just for the airflex. I don't mind paying the extra as long as I know the roof is watertight and insulated. Sorry to ask more of you but I'm sure when we talked to the roofer he showed us two different types of material but of course when you get back here you remember differrently.

    Thanks Azila

  5. Help,

We have received our devis for fixing our roof but our roofer has thrown me by writing the following:- "Fourniture et pose de 69m d'airflex en isolation" the thing I do not understand is the airflex bit, is this the brand name for the waterproof material that goes under the tiles because he has  also written on the next line "pose de 69m de sous toiture 262,97euro" and I cannot work out what this is at all.

    Thanks Azila

  6. Can anybody help us.

We have terracotta floor tiles upstairs and the former owner stuck rubber-backed carpet over the whole area. The tiles are in perfect condition apart from the residue of the glue. Is there anything I can use to remove the glue or am I going to be on my knees scrapping them for the next 6 mths.

    Thanks Azila

  7. We have recently brought a house near Troyes and now that most of the inside is sorted out, I am turning my thoughts to the garden. I will be growing lots of seeds for planting out but would like to buy rose and fruit trees in France. Can anybody let me know of any garden  centres near to Troyes(10). Thanks

  9. We are over in the St.Fargeau/St.Sauveur-en-Puisaye for 10 days house hunting from around the 11th of September. Can anybody recommend anywhere to stay for a few days. We already have a gite book for a week when we stay near Troyes but I have appointments book to view in St.Sauveur and would like somewhere close for the second week. Can someone also recommend some good places to eat?. If there is anybody in this area who could give us a insight to the area we would be very grateful. Thanks
