  1. Hi all,

    can anyone give me any idea how easy/difficult it would be to deregister from a micro enterprise?

    Over the last 2yrs I have spent 18months in france renovating my own property,I have many offers of work in france one of which is to renovate/convert a barn for an english friend.Having read most of the postings regarding working in the black etc,I feel my best option is to register as micro enterprise, however, after the conversion (approx 9 months) I am unsure as to wether I will carry on working for clients or go back to working on my own property, in which case I would not need to be registered. If I were to do the latter could I just, fold the buissness, so to speak.

    Any thoughts welcome,

  3. I am a carpenter with some 30yrs experiance & have a property in the Limousin.I intend to go out next week & attempt to register as a micro ent,.Is there an order in which to do things or will things just unfold as I apply for the micro ent,. regeme.
    Many thanks, Pat.
  4. Depends how much you have to raise it by? If you are just talking about a sub base 100mm--150mm then any good clean well broken & compacted hardcore will suffice,blinded with sand & laid over with d.p.m. before concreting.If you have a local quarry near you they do what is the equivalent of english type one,( sort of scalpings )ideal & only about 8-9e a ton.If you are talking about raising the floor 18" or more you may be better with a precast concrete beam & block construction or suspended timber floor.
  5. Hi All,
    Just back from another stint of work on our little place near Bellac, next trip being planned to start the extension, which leads into my question, does anybody know where I can obtain dressed stone to form the corners and possibly the window reveals, have searched the forum & one or two local quarries but have had no joy.Any help greatly appriciated.

  6. Update;
    I wrote to the Centre des Impots Des Non-Residents, explaining that I wished to carry out renovation works for clients that have properties in france.I explained that I am resident in England & asked them what legal or other obligations I would have to fulfill to comply with EU &/or French regulations.
    From my translation of thier reply, under article 14 of the convention between France & U.K., as I do not have registered premises in france then my income will be subject to English tax, thats all.So it would appear to me that is o.k. to take on work in France, OR, are there other hidden obstacles somewhere ( I'm sure someone will throw a few in )

  7. I have asked this question before but can't find the thread in the archives. I am an English registered ( one man band ) builder living in England with a holiday home in France.I am enjoying renovating my own place and would like to take on works for other holiday home owners or residents, properly invoiced from England & paid in sterling.From what I understand this would be illegal & I would be classed as working on the black,however I recently met a chap who has been doing this for years & says it is totally legal, there is also an english paper published locally in france in which many english registered builders advertise.Now, not doubting the advise from this forum what is the best authority to contact to get to the bottom line on this.
    Kind regards to all,
    Pat
  8. sorry to post yet another Fosse question but have tried searching the forum but to no avail.
    I have a small property near to Bussiere Poitevine to which I am trying to install a fosse, for a number of reasons ( heavy clay soil, no ditches nearby, roads to cross with pipework etc, )I have decided to opt for a fosse etanche for the black water & soakaway for the grey water.I have been advised that there are no plans for the area to be put onto main drainage.My question is apart from the obvious drawback of having to have the fosse emptied every so often are there other significant disadvantages to this system.
    Many thanks in anticipation

  10. I would assume that you dont mean the boards are laid direct on the earth? or are they ? I would suggest that you either dig out the earth & lay a new traditional suspended timber floor, or you could possibly lay a concrete floor including a d.p.m. with treated battens cast into the concrete which you could then fix the new floorboards to. Good luck
