Hi We moved to France last year and had no trouble registering our Avondale Avocet(which they do not sell in France).I posted my messages on another site I think it was cars etc I will have a look and post another message in a minute.

Hi ,We bought a house here in January and a month after we moved in the previous owner started to build a house on his land next to us(which he had partitioned off for grazing).No mention of building a house when we bought it.He said he was buying a property further away in another village.Notaire never mentioned it.A couple of months ago we met a couple who had been to see the property two years previous and they were told he was building a house but he was very vague about where it would be so they never proceeded.Can we do anything about this and if so who do we go to see.

HI everyone.Thanks to all who gave help and advice to us.We got a letter from Avondale stating that it met European standards.We then went to DRIRE at Angouleme armed with bill of sale 'log book' letter from Avondale and a copy of the chassis number.The man said he would look at all documents and then invite us to bring van for inspection.A week later we got a letter asking us to take van.They checked all lights brake,side reverse etc.We then had to put handbrake on van and try to push it back with the car!!(a discovery)It pushed it back so we failed but he said tighten the cable and come back.We did this and it passed.The documents arrived yesterday.I can only tell you how it was for us because everyone seems to be different.There was a man there when we were and he has been trying for a year.He had to go to Poitier to have the gas and electrics checked.No one set foot inside our van.Good luck.Don't give up it can be done.OH and it only cost us 48 euros(avondale didn't charge a penny) Nobby

Thanks Maude You have given me hope!We have been in touch with Avondale who have sent me some numbers(1509001:BS5750)Which might mean something to someone.My husband has found a plate on the chassis with numbers and letters so we are going to go over to Nersac (drire)armed with every bit of paper we can find including fridge and fire instructions!!I will do 'polite' and give them a big smile and see what happens
