We have just received a quote to connect our house in Normandy to the main drains which run past our house, the man hole being approx 4ft from our land. The estimate was for 968 euros. Does anyone know if we are able to obtain a grant to help with these costs or where we could obtain advice from regarding this. Thanks.

Thanks to those who replied to our question about stone and plumbers, but how do you get hold of the local yellow pages?

Does anyone know of any English speaking contractors in the area of Orne Normandy, who would be able to connect main drains from the road to the house, or does anyone know if we can do this work ourselves? Also for the same area, contractors who can help with having the electric connected? Thanks Tony.

Can anyone advise on how we should go about connecting to main drains that run past the house and if we are able to do the work ourselves or we require a registered contracter. We are in the process of putting in an offer for a property(as a holiday cottage) but our inititial offer, which included connection to services close by, was rejected. The vendor has dropped the price of the property but this means we have to do the work ourselves.
We are greatful for any advice as new to this game.
