Hi,we brought our cat over on poole/st malo crossing last sept,about same time travel i would say he didn't travel well as you say was a bit loud and bumpy even though seemed smooth enough for us humans,but once we were into house his head was in food bowl,took a few days to settle ,has taken longer to work out dogs in france don't go on leads lol,but otherwise no ill effects.
