1.
I read somewhere that burial is more eco friendly than cremation. Is that true? I think I'd prefer one of those woodland burials where you're buried in a cardboard coffin with a tree planted on top, but are there such things in France, and are they dearer than the cheapest send-off? (and is cremation still the cheapest?)
Having lost both my wife and daughter to Cancer, I have witnessed the trauma that having to write a will that you know will be enacted within a few months can cause, so mine is done. As for the funerals well they were mostly for the people left behind and I believe they should have the most say, but if it were down to me; . . .  so there I am in my willow casket with the JCB booked to dig out the hole for the pear tree on my own foreign field in France (assuming he can get deep enough through the limestone that is a few feet below the soil[Www]). . . is this possible, what arrangements are required for a burial on your own land?

ps I do like the idea of having the coffin placed at 45degrees to enable me to continue to enjoy the view[8-|]

2.

I wonder how many people get 'done' for this each year
Probably about the same number that get done for not having a gilet ...(!)
and how many accidents they cause?
Quite a few ... or at least it is a significant contributory factor in quite a few accidents, I would think.
and how many of these will change their behaviour as a result of this measure?

3. Well . . .  if it were me I'd keep the runaround Note, that way you'll have something reliable and economical you're already happy with.
Next I'd join the Porsche club and chat to all my mates to find a decent used  PORSCHE-911-LHD- , and I'd get the Skoda on leboncoin, you really don't need to mess with it. Go with the dream, it doesn't have to be new, no need to spend all the dosh, if you don't get on with it after a while then you'd have had your go and could change for something a bit more practical like a Scirocco[:P].
A go faster renault might flash through my mind but after a day I know I'd find the Clio a very hard ride, uncomfortable, and not enjoyable to drive in traffic, and the megane RS a bit more comfortable perhaps but ghastly depreciation, no, no, no, lots of options below 20K the nearest I'd get to Renault in this class would be something from sister company  nissan/350_z or  /370z (aircooled seats!), er cheaper to run than a porker, quick enough to beat a boxster and put a smile on your face[:)]
Take your time and look around some more, the Toyota. GT86 is due out soon, check out a lease . . .

4. I like my cake and eat it, so spring and summer in rural France suits me fine, it is a bit shut in the winter though when the comfort of an English town calls [;-)]

edit: FFS, the comments have more sense than the articles[:P]

5. A great site Normy, I loved the panorama treatment, and it looks a lovely spot to be, certainly a reason to be cheerful, it's a wonderful life eh . . .
and it reminded me of this rosy poem.

Leisure - W. H. Davies
WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

6.
Whilst it may seem like torture there are some ferry companies that offer the 'ultimate' night time snooze.[:D] Depart from Newhaven at 23.00 arrive at Dieppe 4.00. No chance of a lie in as they sail back from Dieppe at 5.30.[blink] I know which I'd rather have
Could have been worse, I do cabins only now on overnight crossings, on a previous trip, cabins were fully booked and we booked sleeper seats, only to discover that they are not actually reserved, but on a first come served basis. Consequently, first on board dumped a coat and bag in the 'best[blink]' seats; nonetheless we found a couple and started to snooze only to be woken at bar closing time when a few drunks returned to find their 'reservations' cancelled and started to rip each others lungs out, (in polite language, actual used was much more of a capital oath). - Wife sat on the floor, head on seat, trembling, no-one got back to sleep.
Despite several blokes trying to halt the altercation, it ran until they were exhausted, and despite the adage that women are better at stopping fights, none attempted to.

edit (nor did any of the staff, who disappeared )[:@]

7. My experience with a modern diesel Euro IV spec vehicle less than 3 years old was extremely expensive, despite doing some round town motoring the majority was about 12k on UK & French motorways cruising at legal speedlimits.
The DPF (diesel particulate filter) failed, resulting in the engine limping along in get home mode until it finally conked on the motorway. The replacement, including several sensors cost well into a painful four figures, the dealership advised that it was not unusual; but despite requesting a contribution from the maufacturer (just out of warranty) it was declined. This together with failure of flywheels and autoboxes on new diesel technology has put me off of the later spec vehicles.

8. BLONDE SICK LEAVE : 'I won't be able to come to work today!!!'

Brigitte calls into work and says, 'Chantal, I won't be able to come to work today, I feel really sick . Got headache, stomach ache and legs hurt, I can't come to work.'

The boss Chantal says, 'You know something, Brigitte, I really need you today. When I feel sick like you do, I go to my husband and tell him I feel like Sex. That makes everything better before I go to work. You try that.'

Two hours later Brigitte calls again. 'I do what you say and I feel great. I be at work soon.........
You got a really nice house and husband!!!

9.

Bumped into her twice? [;-)]
And bisous-ed me four times (a la Sarthe!) Band was on form so a good evening was had by all.

Great to see you and BG, John, hope you got home safe.  We did - just. I think the guy in the Audi whose nose we nealy knocked off might have had heart failure though.[Www]  The thaw is beginning but sadly we had a dusting of snow which has frozen in some places so I can't safely get out today as we're a bit remote here.  Looking good for Ascot on Saturday, though.
We could have bumped again but for your date with Colonel Sanders [Www]

No problem getting home listening to the new CD, except for the biddy's doing 40 in a 60 limit; isn't it annoying how the BMW's sit on the crown wondering about their rear wheel drive grip, until you overtake the line and then they are on a god given mission to thrash past you; we came back via the coast and lovely it was too.[:)]
