We too are in the process of buying a property in Limousin, Chirac. We have travelled a little in this area and have been to Dun le Palastel, the only industry that we have seen is what you would expect in/around a large town (Limoges) and a paper factory near Saint Junien, none of which we found obtrusive. Good luck with your holiday home, we may bump into each other in a hypermarket!

We are hoping to buy a property in Chirac, Charente and have heard that properties in the area are to be conected to mains drainage starting 2006. Has anyone heard of this happening in the area??

We are in the early stages of buying a home in Charante and I'm sure will have tons of questions over the coming months - years, however the main question is regarding health. I have MS and take medication, which in the UK I get free from NHS. My question is how do I get these drugs in France when we move here permanently without paying the full fee (£10,000.00 pa approx)
Any information would be great.
Thanks

My husband & I are planning to move to France next year. I think that I kind of understand the health cover bit, however, I have MS and currently am prescribed a drug on the NHS. How do I arrange for this to continue when I am in France?
Thanks

Just to say thank you to all who replied. We have (our agents have) a certificate from the Maire confirming the mains drainage is going to happen - no dates though!! - surprise, surprise. So until then, at some time in the future, we are looking for alternatives.
We do not have enough land for a septic tank and are currently investigating 'mini sewage treatment thing??' any ideas??
