  1. I was just reading a book which implied that, in the French legal system, there is a presumption of guilt, and that innocence needs to be proved. Is this really true? I thought it was a basic human right (upheld by EU human rights' legislation) to assume innocence etc. etc.

    Just a brief query. Ta

  2. I do apologise in advance and hope that this won't seem a bloody cheek, but I am rather desperate to lay my hands on examples of a contract between a landlord / tenant (short or long term tenancy) and a contract between a company offering key holding services and a client.

Does anyone out there have an example to hand? It is a bit of a case of not wanting to reinvent the wheel and if you are not inclined to help please do not bother to point out the fact that I'm an idle sod.

Many thanks in advance to anyone able to help.

  3. The fortunes of Britain and France are inextricably linked and what impacts one must by extension be seen to impact the other. (The influx of Britons to France over the last several years should be adequate evidence of this fact.)

I think its relevance might not be as great as, for example, Christmas presents but I felt that it was a website that might interest some.

    Kind regards

  4. Browsing the web late one night I came across this site http://www.impeachblair.net/index.shtml and am in two minds as to whether I should sign up or not. The pros are obvious, the cons less so.

It calls for the signing of a petition saying the following:

"I wish to see Tony Blair impeached and required to answer in the Court of Parliament that he repeatedly and substantively misled the people into the Iraq War of 2003 while choosing to remain in office when he is in clear violation of the traditional convention of ministerial resignation."

Is this all old hat? Let sleeping dogs lie? Or is it still important to pursue?

    Any thoughts?

  5. Does anyone have a bungalow / small house to rent over the winter period in the Dinan area? I have a friend who is having a knee operation in the next couple of weeks and needs to recuperate in the Dinan area. For this reason, she needs somewhere that has very few stairs or, if this isn't possible, somewhere where she could live solely on the ground floor (i.e have a shower room downstairs and a fold-up bed and kitchen).

She is looking for something simple - nothing flash. Any help would be great. Please email [email protected] if you have anything.

    Cheers

  6. Dear All

I am finally in a position to issue my first invoice, in Euros, to a French company and was wondering whether anyone had an example of what should be included. I assume name, address and SIRET number etc, but if some one has an example I would be extremely grateful if they could lend it to me. I am not TVA registered so presumably this makes life a bit easier.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks in advance

  7. Dear All

I am looking for some of the above and was wondering whether anyone in Brittany (Dinan / St Malo / St Brieuc area) know where I can find some. What I'm really looking for is a factory / warehouse where I can view the stairs and take away.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Kindest regards

Funnily enough, I am in the throes of doing a webpage devoted to the gardens of Brittany and Ille et Vilaine.

I have just been to Le Parc Floral de Haute-Bretagne (http://www.parcfloralbretagne.com/) and would recommend it highly. Also Le Jardin de Coramille (http://www.jardin-coramille.com) and Les Jardins du Montmarin (http://www.domainedumontmarin.com/).

Hope she enjoys them & let me know if you need more places.

    Kind regards

I am no gardener but I do sometimes listen to Gardeners' Question time while doing other things.

I remember some time ago that they were experimenting growing potatoes by first planting some in the centre of two old tyres. Periodically they would add a tyre and more soil until they had ten to twelve tyres stacked up. Apparently, when they finally knocked the tower over, the potatoes were absolutely without blemish. God alone (and a couple of others perhaps, but not me) knows whether this works and I accept no responsibility for failure. But, were I trying to grow potatoes, I would use this method as its benefits sound plausible.

    Kind regards
  10. Dear All

I have a small (I hope) problem which I hope someone will know about. I have a webpage and an email and some time ago got a virus. I have now solved it and Norton Antivirus gives the machine a clean bill of health.

My concern is that I might be sending out emails that contain viruses to random people. For example I received the following email this afternoon:

    -----------------------

The UCL E-Mail Virus Protection System has been triggered by a message you sent:-
    To: d.yellon@***.ac.uk
    Subject: Mail Delivery (failure d.yellon@***.ac.uk)
    Date: Thu Jun 3 16:15:13 2004

One or more of the attachments (message.scr) are on
the list of unacceptable attachments for this site and will not have
    been delivered.

    ------------------------

I know I didn't send this email but it has been sent out from my home email address not the work webpage email address. I also receive about twenty virus emails a day, both to my work email account and my home address.

Is there anyway of getting rid of this thing that is doing this? Does this make any sense? If any of you have any advice I would be extremely grateful.

All the best and hope that you are all well

    Jake
