Hi MerlinThanks for your reply (can't see your PM yet though for some reason). I shall try and find out more and get more photos for you - it would be great if you can help somehow! Be in touch....There is another photo and info about him on the site set up for the Refuge by volunteers:http://refugecaninlotois.wordpress.com/2010/12/27/dalco-labrador-noir/Jouals

Yes, I am sad to say DALCO is still waiting for a new home - poor boy, so I am pushing him back to the top!!Conditions at the Refuge in Cahors are grim with the winter weather, plus 4 dogs were euthanased over Christmas due to overpopulation in cramped conditions!! Bad news.Jouals

Anyone interested in this handsome young collie, Mosca!!? A dog from the Refuge in Cahors, he is currently being fostered by a local vet. She cannot keep him much longer and he would so love to find a new permanent home (it would be a disaster for him to have to return to the Refuge, which is full to overflowing). Mosca is just over a year old, vaccinated, micro chipped (250 269 201022236) and neutered. He is sociable with other dogs, cats and other animals (after an appropriate introduction of course). Mosca is a lively dog, very intelligent and just waiting for someone to teach him all sorts of things - he would be great at agility! Great news Merlin, brilliant!JoualsPS - I see they made it onto the UK cocker forum as well! Someone has posted that they have now been re-homed.http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?topic=78942.0

That's a good bit of progress Merlin! When you look at the site under the rescue section on the forum - you will see there are also various rescue organisations for cockers - I think one is called Tiny Tears - they might be able to help too. Seems cockers warrant rescue organisations all of their own - with all the abandoned breeding cockers etc - thanks to people buying puppies from unscrupulous breeders! Don't get me started! Good luckJouals

Hi MerlinOh dear! I don't suppose they are passported for the UK?? Sounds like they are not. But it still might be worth posting them on the Cockers On Line Forum - they have a rescue section on there (which sadly is always active!) - you never know! A lot of people look at this site and it might spark a rescue!http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/cms/Jouals

There will be a stand for the Refuge next to the ice rink in central Cahors* on 18 and 19 December - if you are there - come along. As ever, the Refuge is at saturation point!! A stand is also planned for the Marché de Noël at Castelfranc (46) on 12 December.Jouals* sur les allées Fénelon

Hi AmandaThis is brilliant news! I have PM'd you... Jouals

Hello all, sorry, just had chance to catch up - thanks for the replies - particularly Amanda. It would be great if something could be sorted out - your place sounds ideal! And he would be best placed with someone who has experience of setters. My friend is French, so I doubt if he has a UK passport - I will check, but if something can be sorted out for him to get one, I would hope some solution could be found. Amanda - I've PMd you - do you speak French?Jouals

Can anyone offer handsome Tony a new home?? I am posting his details for a friend. Her elderly father (87) can no longer cope with caring for dogs and so she is trying every avenue she can to find Tony a new home without having to resort to a refuge. (She can’t re-home him herself as she already has dogs and cats!). He is a pedigree Gordon Setter born on 28 April 2002. He would suit an experienced owner with no children and no cats (he is used to neither), but perhaps another female dog. He is vaccinated and tattooed. Tony is in Concots in the Lot, south east of Cahors. If anyone needs any further information, let me know.

Merlin, thank goodness you were able to take him! He has the best chance with you and your husband to care for him! I do hope he recovers, fingers crossed. It does sound like something neurological - the cause could be any number of things. Keep us posted....Jouals

Hi MerlinHow is Scramble getting on? I posted his story on the Brittany Forum and a member has suggested a possibility re his paralysis:"I wonder if he was given Macadamia nuts as a treat...these can cause paralysis, either temporary or permanent. We discovered this after giving one of our Bretons these nuts (only one or two thank God) He recovered very quickly but it was a total mystery to our vet. It happened a second time and again a very rapid recovery. A little while after these incidents I read about macadamia nuts causing paralysis in dogs and made the link....Just a thought....."A warning to all re Macadamia nuts anyway!Jouals

DALCO is still waiting for a new home so I am bumping him back up the posts. The lady who was going to foster him has still not been able to do so. You can see him at the Open Day at the Refuge Canin Lotois on 17 October! Along with EZIA (separate post) and all the others waiting for adoption.Jouals

I have just found out that poor Ezia has been returned to the Refuge in Cahors as her foster home can no longer keep her. As you can imagine - she is very very stressed about this, having got used to being with a family for some weeks!! Is there anyone out there for this lovely dog???Jouals

Thanks for finding the time to post the new photos Christine! How lovely to see Morgan looking so happy!! Happy endings make it all worthwhile!Jouals

At last!!! - fingers crossed - good news for Castro the beagle. He has been adopted by a family with 2 children! He will live on a farm with 2ha of fenced land, will have a "copine" - a cairn terrier and has already met the family cat without incident! As long as everything settles down ok, he has landed on his paws!! His foster mum will be sad to see him go, he has had a wonderful time with her. But it is a big relief that he has hopefully found a permanent home.Jouals
