  1. URGENT - Alie and Baba are now on the danger list - their foster home can no longer keep them (2 weeks maximum now!!) and the the Refuge is full!  Could anyone offer them a foster home at least (we will provide all the help we can for this - transport etc) - they just need a kind home with care and attention and a well enclosed garden!!

Please get in touch if you could help these 2, or if you know anyone who might be able to foster them!!

  2. Little Boby has gone off to his new home!!!  He was adopted last week by a lovely English couple who came all the way from the Haute-Vienne to get him!  Phew - what a lucky boy - his new owners fell for him immediately and vice-versa.  Off he went and was home in time for a shampoo and then a good night's sleep after such a long time at the Refuge.  He now has his own garden and has already made a new friend - Hector the Labrador came to visit and they spent a very happy time together.  Thank you so much to Boby's new owners for coming all that way to adopt him!  And thanks to Merlin!!!

Off to a new life - good luck Boby!

  3. Back to the top of the list for these 2!  Yes - they are still waiting for a home together!!!  Luckily a volunteer has very kindly taken them home to foster for now - but she cannot keep them for too long - so please - is there anyone who might be able to offer these 2 a home together??  We have considered that they could go separately, but Baba is so attached to Alie - we are still hoping to find them a home together.  Please get in touch if you need more information or know anyone who might be able to offer these 2 a caring home!

Here are some new photos taken of them at a recent fund raising event for the Refuge.

  4. Here are some photos of little Boby taken on Sunday.  Boby was very much admired by lots of people, but poor lad still has not found a home!!!   He was very pleased to have a day out - and was tired out by the end of the day!  (It was very hot.)

Please get in touch if you think you could offer this little dog a happy home - or if you know anyone else who could - he deserves to find one soon!

  5. Here are some more pictures of little Boby, how he loves a cuddle!  It's 6 months now since he arrived in the Refuge, a long time for this little chap in stressful conditions.

If anyone would like further information about this lovely little dog, please let me know.  Doglinks have kindly offered to pay for him to be sterilised (thanks Merlin!) - if only he could find a loving home very soon!!!

  6. This is Boby - a real feisty, adorable little character.  Surprisingly he is still at the Refuge in Cahors and everyone would love to see him find a new home very soon.  He is a very affectionate and friendly little dog with a lively disposition.  He is full of character for one so small.  He is afraid of nothing, but he loves his cuddles and when he looks at you with those almond eyes - who would not melt under this little chap‘s charm!  He would make an ideal companion for someone who is looking for a smallish, friendly and affectionate dog.  He is about five years old (puce n°250269201030941) and would be happy to live with other female dogs but perhaps not with cats.  On a recent outing to a fund raising event he behaved impeccably - we all thought he would be adopted as lots of people liked him, but sadly only his fellow Refuge companion was re-homed that day.  Come on, is there someone out there who can offer little Boby the chance of a new life??

Boby is not sterilised, but we can arrange for that to be done once we know he has a definite home!

  7. Hi Rose

Yes, please do consider getting a rescue Lab (rather than buying a puppy) - there are plenty out there needing a loving home and taking on a rescue dog can be a very rewarding experience for all!!  I am a volunteer at the Refuge in Cahors and have seen many adult dogs of all ages become much loved family members.  We have just taken in a young female Labrador cross found with an injured foot.  She is a lovely young dog and will soon be looking for a permanent home.  She is currently recovering from an operation on her injured foot in a foster home.  She is expected to make a full recovery and will make a wonderful family pet.

  8. Anyone out there for this lovely dog, Gibus???  He is a calm little fellow, just waiting for a new home.  But he wonders what life is all about since he found himself in the middle of all the noise and overcrowding at the Refuge in Cahors.  Despite his sorry life so far, he is a friendly and forgiving little dog.   He just needs to find loving owners to give him the care and attention he deserves.  He was quite timid on arrival but has shown himself to be quite resilient.  Gibus would make a lovely family pet with some TLC.  Plus he has just been ”cat tested” and passed with flying colours!  He visited a volunteer’s home to meet her 6 cats - they soon realised he was no threat to them - and he took it all in his stride and behaved impeccably.  He walks well on the lead, and travels well in a car.  Gibus is about 2 or 3 years old, he is micro chipped (250269500411323) and vaccinated.

Could you offer this little chap a home??  Please let me know if you would like any further information.

As always the Refuge in Cahors is constantly battling to care for the dogs which keep arriving - they arrive faster than they leave!

  9. Happy ending!!  Saxo left the Refuge Canin Lotois a few weeks ago to go a small private refuge enabling him to get away from confrontations with other more dominant dogs (something he found very difficult to deal with, being such a big softy).  Now I can report that he has been adopted by an English family.  Max, as he is now called, has settled right in to his new home a treat!!

Thanks to all involved in helping this lovely dog (not least Merlin as ever!).

  10. We need help again!!  The Refuge Canin Lotois in Cahors is yet again at bursting point and is in

desperate need of foster homes for dogs (as ever, new permanent homes

always needed too!).  There has been a larger than usual influx of abandoned dogs in the last week or so.  The situation is particularly difficult due to a severe lack of space, restrictions on numbers (impossible to keep to!) and staff shortages.  The future of the Refuge itself hangs in the balance.  It is a real juggling act to keep going!!

Please help in any way you can, even if just by spreading

the word....  If you, or anyone you know, might have space for one of these poor dogs - even for a

limited time - please get in touch....  Fostered dogs remain the responsibility of the Refuge - so, for example, any veterinary treatment a fostered dog may need would be paid for by the Refuge.

If anyone needs further info, let me know - or visit or contact the Refuge direct:
