Thank you RH they both look wonderful, but alas they both or way off route for me traveling up from the south via Le Mans/ Alencon.
I have already spent time today searching google and it's so time consuming and not really finding good sites, I was hoping to find it easy but it isn't[:(]
Plod on me thinks [8-|]

I'm looking for a B&B near Ouistreham/Caen for 1 night, I will be with my little dog (Yorkie girl) and need a place as I will be catching the ferry early next morning. Date aprox. 10th July (not confirmed yet)
Can anyone suggest one or where I might look to find one.

I have the same problem as the OP, I need a mobile Broadband P A Y G,
Last time I was over I brought my laptop hoping to keep in touch with emails and my 'watch list' on eBay[;-)] I brought with me my 3 dongle from home (which was quiet resonable when I needed BB for 3 weeks when we had no phone) topped it up with £20 foreign use, the first time I used it I had reasonable signal but after 13 mins I had used £7 + [:-))] so only two more short connection and I was done! not doing that again thank you! If I had got the samish value for money tarif as back home I would have been happy.I need about 1 hour a day on mobile BB whilst in France, any other services out there?
-
Thank you for your reply, I'm not so bothered about the credit lasting, as long as the sim remains active if not topped up within a set period eg. 6 or 12 months, as my sim's died when I could get to top-up in time (6 months with Orange)
-
Can anyone tell me if the Leclerc sim (as bought by Dave for 14.95€) has a six month expriry if not toped up or used?
I have bought 2 sims now from Orange Fr. and they both have expired when I was unable to return and top them up in time.

["AnOther"]If you have not specifically claimed that you do not have a TV and had your taxe d'hab reduced then no, you shouldn't have to pay more.It should be itemised on your taxe d'hab devis, it is on ours. You are a gem :-)I looked at my last bill and it was there! don't know how i missed that one!But a big relief that I don't have to any more, phew.Thank you all
-
Another wrote:[AFAIK the TV licence is included in the taxe d'hab automatically so the only reason to be filling in forms would be to claim a rebate/discount because you don't have one ]So do you think that I have already paid last years then? and my bill will not increase by aprox €120?
-
Humm that sounds an awful lot to pay for a few weeks watching Sky freeview on 15" screen!
-
Thank you for your replyIs that amount for second homes?
-
Last autumn we started to pay our first Taxe d'habitation and I now have received a letter requiring me to declare the TV status of the house.I have read all the options and think that I should tick the last one saying we live in UK and our French house is a residence secondaire. My question is: how much is the tax due and is it added to the annual taxe d'habitation bill or billed separately?Thank you.

That was a good deal Jaqui for 2 ! ...........
I use an excellent vet in Thivier, they always check them over, heart, eyes, temp and ask if they are well.
I definitely get 30 mins [:P]
It has gone up year on year though, 4 years ago I paid only €36 for the full works for one dog.
-
I paid in june this year: Consultation €25.08, consutation suplement (second dog) € 8.36 Droncit injectable (wormer for 2) € 11.78 plus Tva €8.87 = € 54.09.
We always take our own frontline.

Had an advice letter today to say about added travel insurance if you make the flex acc. your main account (not interested in that) but noted that even within the EU will will be charged to take cash out, £1 per transaction.
I don't think I mind that as long as I get a good exchange rate of the day.

I used it on the 22nd June and it knocked 10 - 15 mins off my journey up to Perigueux.

Thanks for that Pickles.
Our Shogun is 1885mm (without top box) and the transit is 1989-2083mm so I thought I would play safe and get the class 2, but then when I use hire cars they are class 1. I will de definitely do as you say when in a lower car, or I might just get another class 1 tag.
Thank you
-
I have just received my new Alis TAG, I ticked the box for Class 2 as we usually drive a 4x4 with possible top box or a Transit van. My question is if I am driving a class 1 car (hire car tomorrow) will I be charged as if I am in my class 2 vehicle? I will be able to go through the 2m and under barrier but wondered if I get charged the higher rate whether to use it at all with is smaller car.
Thanks for any advice

I had to fill in the form this year to say if our house was habitable on 1st Jan so they could start charging us Tax de Habitation. I was surprised what they classed as habitable! If the house has a roof, water, electrical supply and sanitation then it is capable of being lived in and therefor taxable, were as I thought it had to have furniture in it as well but that was a different box to tick, habitable & empty is different to habitable, empty & furnished!
They must be tightening the screws on Tax de Habitation by throwing the net a little further.
Edit, I just reread your OP am I on on the right track here or are you looking for a differnet sort of answer[blink]

I have been studying and practicing NH for 18 months now and it has really opened my eyes to a whole new way of being with my horses, the results are almost immediate and to an experienced horse woman like myself I really was blown away by my horses reaction to me.
Well the whole point of my post is that on my last visit out to the house I was asked along on a 'walk' from our local village up through my hamlet and onto the next hamlet and back taking in all the beautiful and interesting houses, stopping at a wonderful renovation that a couple have been doing for 3 years already and will still take another 3 years! this is not a stop start project but one in full time with artisans. Well while I was on this walk I met up with lots of different people (all French and 1 dutch) and one of the ladies I was talking to mentioned about her horses and that she would like me to see them and if I wanted to go riding with her as she had no one to ride with. We talked so much about NH and had so much in common that I can't wait to go visit her when I am over next week.
But it got me thinking if there were any other people in the area that would have an interest in NH and joining up at some time.
I must warn you that alot of traditional horse people think that NH is rubbish and many don't own up to doing it! so I tend to let my results speak for it first.
Any one interested?

Thanks for the reply, I have stayed in one at CDG airport a few years ago, as you say basic but served a purpose at the time.
Doggies really don't mind sleeping in the car they are used to long trips now and only raise there heads when we stop.
Any more suggestions please.

Hi can anyone recommend a small quite B&B just outside Cherbourg for one night only (going on the 11.15am ferry home).
We will have two small dogs but they will be sleeping in the car.
We've got fed up with travelling all day then an evening sailing only to get back near midnight and another 4.5 hour drive home!
Thank you

Ah now I have done some more digging and found that it was LD lines[:$] but not the normal site that I have used in the passed eg. LD Lines Ferries BUT LD Lines Network! same times, ships, different prices, different websites, much cheaper [:P]
So if any one thinking of booking LD lines try the network site first
Could you possibly post the web addresses of the two?
I suspect the first may have actually been a booking agent masquerading as the actual company, they seem very good at getting to the top of google with what looks to be a link to the actual company.
Sorry I'm a bit late coming back to this thread (forgot to look in 'My forums')
I think you are right about one being a booking agent : http://www.ferryto.co.uk/offers/ldlines.html Thats the one I used the first time we used LDLines, then I saw an add in one of the French mags this year for LDLines and a cheap fare, but could not find it on the site I had saved in my favorites, so found the mag and followed their link on the add and it came up : http://www.ldlines.co.uk/ and thats where I got the advertised fares, very good value [:)]
B&B wanted near Ouistreham/Caen
in North West (Basse-Normandie, Haute-Normandie, Picardie, Nord Pas-de-Calais)

Thank you Sam, that's right on the door step for the ferry, [8-|] I also found Formule 1 just off the ring road. and both would do if I really couldn't find a 'home' B&B
I would have taken the night ferry but as I don't know my exact date of return chances are that when I do, there will not be any reasonably priced cabins available.
