  1. Indeed, Mint, but I have been getting this info from several sources, and it is not at all evident - yet - from any of them.  I would have thought that a vaccination certificate would be sufficient .. because you might indeed test negative one day, which only means you didn't have it at that  moment .. a PCR test gurantees nothing but that you did not have it when you were tested ...

I am waiting until it says double vaccinated (unless its the J&J) do not need to test further.

  2. NormanH, I agree, knowledge of history, be it in France or in the UK, is sadly lacking.  The US is pretty poor on anything outside their own borders too. Happens to be a subject I like, but even I must confess to large gaps or disinterest in some countries, so I am not perfect .. and I never can get the order of French Kings correct!  But then, I struggle with the Middle Ages in the UK, otherwise, I do quite well!

  3. Mint, so if it was talking about ULTRA processed foods, did they definte exactly what that meant ... given that we have now accepted that much food can only be delivered after having had some processing.  I feel that it means, more than it needs, but did they give any examples, to help define their usage??

  4. We usually go to Spain for a break, and I've been this year, for dental treatment, but that was there and back in the day, so the French PCR test surfficed for both ways.

But the requirements seem to change so quickly that I've decided to go nowhere, even double vaccinated, but France until we don't need PCR tests, never mind quarantine and until we can eat out again without all the current restrictions.  Since we can be there in just over the hour it's a bit of a bind.

  5. Yes, I got the gist, it wil be interesting to see what vegetarian options come up.  Yes, in big towns it is easier to find veggie food, and you certainly can, and I have, in Beziers, but in the rural countryside where meat is king??

  6. We have a veggie friend who will eat fish if need be,a nd so often in Fracne it had to be thus. The nearest they can offer is often an omelette, especailly in meat based restaurants, and indeed you are lucky if you find an unadulterated omelette served.  Happily he loves cheese, so I can always feed him cheese instead!

  7. OH watched it .. was too late for me, I'm usually falling asleep by then with my meds!  But I had seen the trailers and know what he was saying.

In this day and age, it is almost impossible to find completely pure foods as already outlined by some on here, but likewise it is possible to remove quite a few of the over processed foods, albeit still eating some if / when there are no easy alternatives.

Having said that, we are all allowed a treat or two in llife, particularly if, as I think is probable, most of us do what we can to avoid eating over processed foods every day.  Even home made bread, unless you grow, mill and make your own flour, could come into that category!  So sense has to be applied.

Eating sensibly, in moderation, with a varied and mixed diet, with a few treats, which could mean the odd Macdonald trip, or a ready made meal, seems always to come out as the best advice.  After all, what are fish and chips but a ready made meal, and no-one says they are that bad for you (unless you eat nothing but fish and chips, of course!). Wink icon, which I do not know how to insert!

  8. Yes, it's a short 3-sstop trip, I think, from the Oncopole (which I have been visiting on a regular basis for the last year, and progress is quite evident each time I go), which connects to 2 other hospital sites in Toulouse itself.  Cannot remember which.  But since the Oncopole is easy enough, usually, to get to from the autoroute, with free parking and connects into central Toulouse, I shall be trying it out soon I hope.

  9. Lori,

Small villages, especially remoter ones (and some not so remote) tend to die in the winter, which can be long even here.  It can be very windy, and very cold.  Yes, Berlou is beautiful (and we were there in summer, it was hot) but really too far to St C for bread etc every morning .. practically has to beat sentiment at times like this.  Best too look for a slightly larger village with at least some amenities, even if the scenery is not so perfect.

  10. We had planned to visit the opposite side of the lake last year for OH 8oth, but had to cancel because of Covid.  Whether I would go on that ride anyhow is suspect, but limiting travel for a while when all settles down seems sensible.  Your comment that is had quite probably deteriorated because of lack of use, is valid, especially if it was put back into use without further checks first which does not seem to have been done.

  11. Lori, you are right about re-evaluations .. had coffee with a friend this morning at her house in Le Redorte (on the way to Rieux from here) .. their house was re-evaluated about 4 years ago (though it's a longer story than this, the works done before they bought had never been declared by previous owner who'd done them)  and their TF went up a lot .. so did ours, but not so dramatically when we declared a terrace we'd had built .. but many houses have not yet been re-evaluated and the French are not swift to declare works if they do not have to do so, as you can probably guess.

  12. Yes, also stayed in Berlou.  Nearest big town is St Chinian, but not at  lot to do in Berlous itslef, (nice cave though) foothills of the Montagne Noire, a long way to Beziers, roads not so easy and full of traffic .. especially wagons and few little overtaking possible.  Can't load your link again, Lori.

  13. Sorry, Lori, stil can't make that link work, I can finds the site but it brings up everything and their research tool doesn't let you search for the number .. I can't tell you why the TF is high .. other than what I have said before .. nor whether the price is right for the space .. it might be that there is something odd which will not be seen in the photos. Pricing around here is odd, somethings go for much less than you'd think, others for much less.
