If we become affiliated to the French health system through an E106 form, and have a top-up insurance policy, how much if anything would we be able to claim for in respect of contact lenses? Hello, We have managed to save up a lot of Nectar points and vouchers for food and have decided to do a "definitive" non-perishable shop before we move over in 3 weeks... Hello, I have tried searching on this topic but haven't found anything... Does anyone have any advice/suggestions/warnings about the removal of lead paint from woodwork? The house that we have bought has got lead paint seemingly everywhere but we have no experience of removing it.  Is it something one can safely do oneself, or do people recommend getting in a specialist to sort it out? Hello, We have bought a house in France which completes in mid-September. It is highly likely that we will need to buy a washing machine and a gas oven either before we go or shortly after arrival. Does anyone have any views on whether it is cheaper/more practical to buy white goods in France or the UK? Also, the house that we have bought has mains gas... Hello, (1) If I have just passed my driving test in the UK, am I able to drive on this licence in France or are there any restrictions? (2) If I am to be insured on my husband's car as a named driver, how will my inexperience be viewed/penalised by a French insurer? Any comments gratefully appreciated... Hello I am new to the site and France, having just bought a house in Creuse for renovation and eventual escape. The house has no hot water system at present, but there is mains water and electric on site so I have bought a chauffe-eau and have an english electrician to fit it, but there are a few questions that I need answers to before it gets installed. The unit seems to be self contained, apart from inlet and outlet water pipes, are there any other fittings that I need to be aware of, such as venting and/or pressure release valves. Or is this internal to the unit?
