  1. I did occasionally book the odd person for miss-spaced plates when I was a traffic cop in Manchester.

For anyone wanting to see lots of personal plates being discussed, try here; http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1534373

Pleased to say, mines not one of them.

Personalised number plates are dangerous to other road users because when you get passed by one you spend your time trying work out what they are trying to say rather concentrating on the road. It is worse when it is a caravan.

    In my humour mode here.

Surely you are never overtaken by a caravan! Jeremy Clarkson would have a field day.

Personalised plates. I would rather someone were admiring my Bentley instead of looking at the reg'. Still, not everyone is a petrol head.
  3. There used to be a small water pump that you could attach to an electric drill, just a thought.

Also, remember that some fuel pumps push and some suck, so you would need the correct one for the location.

The best place to search might be E-bay.
  4. I find that many French motorists drive much too fast along narrow roads completely oblivious to the fact that someone might be coming the other way.

There is also the French hobby of tailgating. Not a thought about what would happen if you had to brake suddenly.

Then you have drivers following large wagons so closely that they cannot see the road ahead. Utterly stupid.

I won't get going on the stupid woman who slammed her door into the side of my Bentley the other day then just drove off.
  5. Good luck with your challenge.

Should you get the cycling bug, here is a link to 'La Velo Francette'. http://cycling.lavelofrancette.com/

It's being promoted a lot more at the moment around here in the Mayenne.

We might even join the organisation ourselves as the route passes our b&b just a few hundred metres away.

I've just returned to road biking after a 40 year absence and am loving it.
  6. Of all of the specimen trees that we planted, around 40, the prettiest by far is a 'Cedar Deodora'. In the wind, it dances around like something out of a Disney movie.

    It's evergreen too.

The trees were mainly around 3 to 4 metres tall when we bought them so they were delivered by Tractor from the local garden centre.
  7. One thing that I have done is to delete all of my contacts from my e-mail program.

I have recreated them all in a normal letter type document so if I can't remember one, they are all available, but not to the scammers.
  8. It's very rare that I get anything like that to be honest but last week I had an e-mail, supposedly from HMRC, informing me that I was due a tax rebate.

    Total rubbish of course.

As for the chaps from Nigeria. I was once a bodyguard for a businessman who, along with three friends, got mixed up with that lot.

They all lost an awful lot of money, one had a Chinese Triad chasing him for money he borrowed and my chap lost his business as well.

I did try to warn him but they all had Dollar signs in their eyes.

Some folk are simply greedy or plain stupid.
  9. I got rid of Thunderbird a few weeks ago. For some unknown reason, which was never replied to when I contacted them, the e-mail header didn't match the actual e-mail. It ended up with me deleting the wrong e-mails at times. Very annoying.

I have now reverted to Windows live mail.
  10. Disgraceful that they found no evidence of wrongdoing?Disgraceful that the GGT should take pleasure in tipping off the media and seeing Renault shares drop 25% as a consequence?

    Or something else?

    Sorry Chancer.

I was referring to the whole scheme of things in relation to emissions cheating by a number of manufacturers.

I really do hate that black diesel smoke.
