  1. Seems NEUF do a 512k service in a NON degroupée region for €14.90 pm..

This may be the cheapest option as Alice & Wanadoo both have a minimum of €29 ( albeit a much faster connection ie up to 8mb )

It seems you need to opt into their telephone tarifs, but they are quite competitive :

    UK 0.05€ pm 24hrs

    Local 0.9ct pm

    National 3ct pm

French mobiles from 3ct/19ct off / on

    Is this correct ?

    No contract either.
  2. Thanks.. and that's a lot of gas per year !!

I have to say that I think if many people gave the gaz de ville a try, they would love it.. And a lot of the local's talk is is probably more defiance than fact !

PS - Any recommendations for a COMBI BOILER ? They seem pretty pricey but I've found an ELM Leblanc ( part of the BOSCH Group ) for around €800 Model Acleis

    Thanks
  3. I was wondering if anyone had tried ( or is this in common use ) to use a combination boiller ( ELM / Bosch chaudiere murale mixte - butane version ) with 35kg gas bottles ?

I live in Aude and anticipate needing heating 6-8 weeks pa only and am slightly hesitant about commitiing myself to a 20€ per month charge for a relatively short ( but sharp ! ) winter. I will want to use hot water ALL year and will probably get an additional smaller bottle for cooking.

Most locals think I'm a bit mad going for the Gaz de Ville option - though perhaps they have never had the luxury before ...

I will have an additional "chiminee" for the entire ground floor ( kitchen & sitting room ) as well, so I'm really looking at heating 3 bedrooms upstairs ( all newly insulated ) Two bathrooms both with mainly showers. The place will have 12 months a year use, though more activity during the summer - ie less pressure on the heating.

Is this at all viable or do I just take the plunge with the GAZ standing charge. ( I say this as at some point I may only part ocuppy the house some of the year and don't want to feel too pressured by standing charges ) However, I want the house to be comfortable and resellable with "all mod cons"

    Any ideas or experinces ?

    Thanks
  4. Can anyone recommend the best method for a new ( wet ) central heating system ? I have the luxury of awaiting a final coat of 5cm cement on both the ground floor and the first ( the first floor is a new concrete brick floor ). I've been told that copper and concrete do not mix well. Do I still use copper piping threaded through a gaigne ( colour / dimension ? ) and bury that within the top coat of concrete ? Or is this just 'not done' ? Back in the UK I used all plastic pipiing but I'm not very convinced about the quality of the stuff I've seen down here in Aude 11 - or is possible to use this PER tubing sold pre-gaigned in red ? Any recommendations for the best connection fittings if using plastic ? Any tips would be happily received !

Also, I'm looking to 'bury' cabling for : Loudspeakers, telephone & satellite etc in the concrete. What colour / size gaigne is recommended for that ? Thanks.
  5. Hi all..

Quick one - when buying a digibox on ebay for example, will I need to check if the Sky box I'm buying is Subscibed / Unsubscribed ( under contract ? ) or will any of them work here in France ? I read somewhere that dealers were selling 'cheap' subsribed versions ( even 'with' cards) that would not work here.. ( admitidly this was on a web site selling very expensive boxes.. )

    Thanks for any advice.
