1. SMT, I'm just awaiting delivery in the UK of my new GTR 1400 which is next month to be imported to France. Kwak UK are supplying me with COC, so hoping that all will go smoothly. Will keep you posted.

Now if someone would just explain to me how this bonus malus calculation works ....

2.
For those in second or later years:
(a) can you recall waiting this long in your first year?
(b) are any of you still waiting this year?
I was so worried about this in my first year (2004/5) that I went to the office. The officer who dealt with me told me all was in order and not to worry, there was nothing to owe. My bill came in my second year and has continued to arrive like clockwork.

3. Tia,

Nice to have some company in Burgundy. We are 30 Kms west of Auxerre. Have just sold up in UK to make it possible to be there permanently.

I have FJR 1300 and husband has one too. We will be around from 21st April also with daughter who has Divvy 900, and other daughter who goes pillion.

Later in the summer, we will also be doing our usual trek south to Alicante which we usually do unplanned, wandering as we fancy. Our route usually starts in Zeebrugge.

Good to make contact at some point?

4. We took an uninsured English worker to court last year (successfully) to get money back for work they hadn't (and couldn't) do.

Don't touch them if they haven't got the paperwork.

They were named on here (last May) following the court case, but continue to do business I believe.

What region are they in?

5. I am looking for some advice from anyone who has been employed in an anglophone section of any schools in France. That's because I'm applying for a management/curriculum post in one (secondary section) and would really like some honest opinions of what it is like to work in the system.

Thanks

6. I was very anxious about having a FS when we bought three years ago, especially since our house was going to be empty for longish periods for the first couple of years and I read loads of dire warnigns about that. I chuck eparcyl down when we're there: the 3 month bottle, and have never ever had 1 single problem as long as traps have water in them.
7. Yes, it was my local electro place in Toucy (89). Fantastic help and service and, as I mentioned in my post, unlike anything you ever get in the UK from the big places. I didn't even have  to take any packaging home. It went in the car as it was.
8. Buying a gas cooker in France was about the easiest thing I've done all year. Went into the local town to buy one at 11 am on 23 December and they changed the jets, got us the piping and detendeur and bottle and sent us on our way. Cooker was in place in our kitchen by 2 that afternoon and next day cooked a lovely turkey.

I just know if I had gone to Currys or Comet in this country I would have had to have waited 3 weeks before some depot somewhere could process my order.

9. I'm not sure what you mean by real bikers.

We all just have different things we do with our bikes (and wear different things). Some commute. Some go out at weekends. Some polish. Some do all or any of the above. No one's offended I don't think.

Open face and sunglasses? Ah. Happy days in the sun. I remember that.

10. Have you got any experience of any motorcycles other than a scooter? Seems to me that's quite key.

Also, what do you want to do with the bike?

Personally speaking, from the point of view of someone who does a lot of long distance touring, it wouldn't be for me, but you may know what you want it for.

I know Bala lake fairly well Pun, but my favourite road in Wales is the one from Dolgellau to Machynlleth. It was a cracker. Just had to watch out for those sheep, you know. It's probably a motorway now, or covered in safety cameras.

Now you're talking. Here's me with my bike only last summer half way up the pass from Machynlleth to Dolgellau. Not a camera in sight!

And here's me and husband's bikes a bit later that morning in Bala.

My very favourite bit of road in the UK.

Oh and here's lots of my FJR mates who I forced to go to Bala one very cold April day. That's my bike front right.

Remember Wendy? ... Brrr
