1. The following is worth keeping in mind for the future..... Pm Jan 13 I did a major pricing session for our Easter crossings, consulted with my partner and went back to book at 09.30 on the 14th. but prices had gone up overnight by 4.5% on all the western channel combinations I'd worked out! Talked to BF and they basically said tough, pay the new price but if I'd be on the phone, I could have made at (no charge) "4 day reservations" where the price would have been held but you can't do that via the web site! So for doing all the hard work and not monopolising one of their operators for over 1/2 an hour, the web customer looses out, good deal eh! Moral is that if your looking to book early in Jan, do it by phone with a 4 day reservation if you need to consult! Tieman
2.
I need to buy a dish with lnb and some coax for a Sky box. Anybody can give me advice on the best place to go? I'm not far from Rochefort in Charente Maritime?Steve
Steve Hi Try the big Castorama up the road from you in the sourthern 'burbs of La Rochelle. Good hunting! David
3. I've sent a message to your private forum box/address. David
4.     This link will take you straight to the E111 form for printing off. David http://www.dh.gov.uk/assetRoot/04/08/76/14/04087614.pdf
5. Linda Hi! We took over a big, white, above ground Butane tank a couple of years ago when we bought our house in Vendee (85). All being well it should be fairly straight forward....... If there's a lot of gas in the tank you may have to pay the vendor for it. You might also be asked to cover any deposit the vendor may have made in the first place for the tank but ask to see any receipts etc. if that comes up! Gas price depends slightly on the quantity you have delivered, small monthly "standing order" top ups will cost more than calling them in when you need a major delivery. We simply phone Butagaz up and they deliver within days, even if we're not in, which is handy! I don't know about anyone else? but we're not charged any form of rental for the tank? The only cost is the gas, which obviously depends on your usage. For us, with a 5 deg thermostat set for the heating during winter while the house is empty, plus 6-8 (mostly without c/heating) weeks use of gas boiler for hot water and a gas cooker during the year.   We had 923 kg (approx. 1,800 ltrs) into our 1,000 kg tank in June '02 @ €830 and about 0% was still left after this Summer, so tank of gas goes a fair way for us ! Butagaz inspect our tank every 3-5 years FOC and we've just been OK'd, so all in all as I say, not too complex! Good luck David
6.
Pantouflard Who are you calling juvenile, Junior member ? John
Di I wouldn't read too much into the number of postings/"rank" shown, many of us lost most if not all of our postings tally in the recent changes. I could have sworn I heard our two young children come out with the same sort of comments/insults the other day! Tieman
7. On the other hand someone could suggest a search through the archive topics or maybe tracking down satcure? or that in most of France you are looking at about 2-3 deg E of S or at about 22-23 deg of elevation or would that be too simple? or am I remembering it all wrong? Tieman Knowledge is like money, it works best when it's spread around
8. "Crashed and burned" as well after installiong SP2(couldn't receive/send e mails or go onto any web sites)! Using the revert to previous settings option sorted the problem. Surely from all the testing MS say they have done, I can't be the only one running Norton 2004? so why would such a major bit of s/ware clash with SP2 or even the other way round?? Are we again all doing the alpha testing  for M/soft? Whilst SP2 may be have big improvements, I think I'll wait a few months before I have another go. Maybe by then the bugs and conflicts will have been solved? Good luck with SP2! Tieman

10. Hi! You will (at some stage!) be given a file (try asking the Notaire for your dossier) but it's more about your purchase than giving the history of the house like English deeds. You might though find part of the vendors family tree laid out, showing the various "splits" if it's beign sold by the "estate", makes for an interesting read! As for the estate agent, rest assured, if you bought AEM (the "key in hand price"), they will have been paid directly by the Notaire (probably went away from the signing with their cheque!), so you shouldn't have to pay them anything extra. Good luck and enjoy your new home. David
11. Just to put this back to the top as no one has replied! so should I change my brand of soap? If anyone from the forum is on this sailing and would like to meet up for a chat (good value sailing but 10 hours is a long time!), I'll loiter (with a print out of the LF web page on view!) from 3 pm onwards for a while in the piano bar next to the main a la carte restrnt. If I can pry them out of the cabin in time, my partner and our 11 & 14 yr olds should be around as well. Safe driving! David
12. I'm sure we won't be the only forum members on this sailing, so to help pass the 10 or so hours on board, anyone interested in meeting up at some stage? Regards David
13. To help fill the 10 or so hours on board, any forum members like to meet up for a chat and possibly a libation? Regards David
14. Probably your best solution is the Sky route (signal reception shouldn't be problem in Cognac) which will give you both TV & radio. You'll find all details in previous postings/the archives. Good luck David
15. We'll be down in our house near the coast at L'Aiguillon s/mer (west of Lucon) for nearly two weeks over Easter, with our 14 yr old son & 11 yr old daughter. The local schools aren't on holiday over Easter, so we were wondering if any list members might be around near us with their kids to meet up with? If you're going to be around the area, please post to my private box. Looking forward to making contact. Regards David re enlisted tiemen!
