1. I know this is possibly a very delicate matter particularly if you actually wear one.
But I was wondering if it was something that may be effecting you in your area of France,?
There is a lot of talk over here in the UK, as to the reasons the French government has implicated this ban.
I will drop my 2 pence worth in, I am far from a prejudice person, but my personal view is when I go on holiday to say an Arab country, I and the wife have to follow very strict rules and regs as to dress and drink etc, certain foods are banned and we take this as a matter of fact because we are in there country.
Surly the same goes for us in Europe, if you want to come here you should obey our culture and rules?
Like I said Controversial or what.

Suppose you will be cutting grass!
Yes Jay, if I can persuade her in doors to let me go, It will be the first thing I do.

I dont get over enough, and the grass/weeds are over a meter tall every time.

Thing is, I only have a small concrete yard here in Solihull, and have 3/4 acre there in France.

If only I could persuade myself to move over permanantly.

If I thought I could get work I would jump at it.

I can dream.

Thanks for the Link.

Chris.

Scary, wot?

I am in the UK at the moment and there is a garage just down the road which sells proper old fashioned 4-star (he is a dealer specialising in rather fine old cars).  It is just under £2 a litre![:-))]
Yes cooperlola, good old 4* and with 400 horses and 8 mpg the old girl dont get out much nowadays, but watch out, hopefully soon be keeping you awake nights down at the LE-MANS Classic's
Many thanks for the link.

It sounds like, because I started the rebuild it should still have permit, and as long as I do work every year it would be ok?

6.
Sometimes you have no choice, the land comes with the house you want. Just put it all down to grass and buy a ride on lawn mower! Can't see why anyone would think you would be impressed by a bit of land, perhaps you just got the wrong idea.
The only problem with buying a house with land, you have to get over to France more than once a year.

Maybe this year will be different? Im getting fed up with all the grass cutting. lol

7. Well certainly some interesting replies to my question,

And in the words of cooperlola....

"I couldn't sleep very well last night. Some noisy b*ggers going around in automobiles kept me awake."

And untill I become one of them noisy b*ggers in my Mustang, I for one have no intentions of selling up and moving lock stock and barrel back to the UK.

But then I have not managed to move out to France permanently yet anyway, I just hope I finish the rebuilt on the old place before I get bored and change my mind in that I want to move.

Chris.

8. We own a property in Normandy  5 miles south of Fler, but after 6 years still unable to communicate with autorities, eg :- edf /electricians water board, etc. We used to use a company called que can help (Bernard) but found them to be in bed with crooked electricians etc, so have muddeled on for the last 5 years with on line translations, which are worse than useless.

We are looking for someone or a company to assist in translating documents etc when we get them, we can deal by email or fax as we are not in France that much lately.

Also someone capable of dealing direct with electricians just getting across what we want basicaly.

It goes without saying we will pay for each and every letter translated or any work done on our behalf, we dont mind if your a work from home guy or girl or maybe retired and looking for something to do, Dont get me wrong, we only get the odd letter that may want attention, and we are hoping to sort the electrics out in the property we are renovateing during the end of this year, we have the main electrics to the property but will need the supply putting inside and turning on later in the year, we just can't communicate with anyone to arrange estimates etc.

Any help most welcome, or contact details please.

Regards Chris and Diane.

9. I can not believe that we get our animals chipped and that the animals owner is not on some register somewhere, I expect if it were to have had rabis and bit someone there would be a way they would have traced the owner? I have 2 dogs both chipped and if they went missing I would hope to god to get a call saying they had been found, MAN it realy makes me mad.

I hope they find the owner someone is panicing some where.

Fair play to you for putting an alert on here to find the owner.

SORRY, have just reread the post and see an address in Normandy was registered, but not in the UK, I assume a note has been posted To that address on account the owners return to France within the next 6 months?

10. An estimated 3,100 fuel stations are empty, with rationing introduced in
areas which are particularly popular with British visitors, including Brittany and Normandy.

‘In the west of the country and in Paris, more than a third of filling stations have been shut down – the situation is extremely serious,’ said a transport ministry spokeswoman.

Yesterday, France’s biggest oil refinery was back in the hands of militant trade unionists amid warnings that industrial action is costing the country up to £350million a day.

Demonstrators restored their blockade at the port of Fos-sur-Mer, Marseilles, following last week’s clearing of their demonstration by riot police.

About 70 ships, including oil tankers, are waiting at anchor off the coast of Marseilles because militants will not let them dock and unload.

Jean-Francois Cope, leader of the ruling UMP in parliament, said: ‘In France, we have a sort of ritual from another century. Strikes, protests, yes, but taking the economy hostage is intolerable.’

Students are holding a mass demonstration today against a new bill which will raise the retirement age from 60 to 62. President Nicolas Sarkozy hopes to see it ratified tomorrow after it was rubber stamped by the senate on Friday.

A general strike against the bill is scheduled for Thursday, with the police preparing to face renewed violence.
