  1. Stan,

If your car is UK registered you really ought to do something the cut off strips as you put it are fine. The clip on plastic shields are probably better and have a built in blacked out area to prevent dazzling the oncoming traffic.

Or you could do as Chancer suggests and change the position of the actual bulb.

Of course you can dazzle ongoing traffic in daytime - when its raining etc so please do somthing.

I've no idea what the penalties are.

As you will see by reading this thread opinions appear to be polarised.

  2. We have had 4-5" of snow overnight so I will not be testing Chancer's method until I can get a dry car in the garage.

I will try and take some photos of before and after beam patterns, with a tripod I should get an image, I hope. I will post here when done.

The Wikipedia article is indeed interesting, perhaps the "fresnel" ridges on the front of the glass are more for light intensity than direction.

  3. Point taken now - thanks all. It just took a while to get over the shock of the original bill!

I will order a pair of Valeo which even with delivery will be less than just one of the lights quoted (Hellas probably).

Do you think this will be easy to change myself? I've no Haynes manual for reference but I have time to get one from Uk if necessary.

Actually I might go back to the garage and ask him to quote for supply and fit of the Valeos he can then make sure they are adjusted correctly before the CT.

    Thanks again

  4. I've had a problem with the CT - it failed on Headlamp Alignmnet - I've been using the clip on Headlamp shields with blacked out area.

I've read on a UK Technical forum that there are 2 adjustment screws on the back of the headlamp for both vertical and horizontal adjustment but the thread was not detailed enough to suggest that these could be used to adjust to driving on the right.

Has anyone adjusted a Berlingo's headlamps sufficiently to pass a CT?

    Thanks

  5. Hi,

I have just had my Berlingo failed it's CT, because we are assured, the headlamp deflectors (we have the plastic shileds that clip over the headlamp with an area blacked ) are no longer suitable and we must change the headlamps to french ones - only €750!!

We had a CT 2 years ago without any problem.

    Has the law changed?

Has anyone else come across this? If it is a load of old bull a point towards the relevant french website that gives details would be welcome.

    Cheers

  6. Thank you all for the replies. If it is usual practice, even though a little untidy, then I will leave well alone.

I have an electrician coming next week I will show hin the picture just to see what comments he will make.

Do you think it is a good idea to have the fiberglass insulation on top of this box as it is currently.

I would like to add more insulation as currently the fiberglass is running over the rafters rather than in between.

    Cheers

  7. I am trying to post this image without success. It works fine in preview and the code appears to be correct on the thread, as you can see the last IMG tag is missing and is replaced by border="0" /> Any idea why?

  8. Hi, I just found your forum via someone who wishes to remain anonymous!

Moved to France July 2007 and am slowly getting to grips with the internal decoration of our relatively modern house, built in 1993.

I ventured up into the loft for only the second time today and found this:-

    [IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/raelsquonk/DSCN6357.jpg[/IMG]

I have not seen it's like in the books I have nor in the DIY barns.

I know I am supposed to have a radial system (sockets etc daisy chained together) but I do not understand the need for this mega Junction Box?

I'd welcome any info on its correct nomenclature in either language.

    Cheers
