Perhaps Lilium Regale - according to my Broadleigh Gardens catalogue 'one of the easiest and best known lillies. Glistening white flowers with purple backs. Heavily scented and lime tolerant'. Lucky you.

WOW - do you have any idea what it was? Great to hear you and Gemonimo had a good time - despite the mozzies. How is the training going? xx

A French person told me recently that there are no Brits in La Rochelle. Just wondering - is that the case?
-
Wouldn't do very well in the Jura, sadly.
-
WOW - what an amazing picture - and THAT colour! Bravo.

a more interesting question would be 'why, as they are proven to be medically safer (do not affect stomach lining) and more effective (direct hit) - have the Brits got a phobia re/ suppositaries'? ??? [:D]The French are a very diverse community, and each region has its own traditions and 'old wives tales', remedies, sometimes a good mix of old pagan and catholic traditions - and of course many immigrant groups, mainly from North Africa (ex colonies) who are mainly Muslims. So it is very difficult to answer your question. I'd say that generally in modern society, the idea of illness being bad karma or punishment, and forms of shamanism, do not exist. Although in rural areas, many of the older generation will often prefer to see a 'rebouteux' (ie often somebody unqualified but who has a feel, or gift, and will help 'put back' bad backs and joints, etc, or a chiropractor (qualified). bonne chance.

A friend is looking for a small place in France. She went to see a studio today- and I've just looked it up on French Google - and it is advertised there for E10.000 LESS. So is the agent trying to take her for a ride?

That sounds good - definitely will go with the Calva next time (as said, when it has cooled down a bit) - 34C outside, and 28 in.
Maybe a clue in the results of this survey....... http://www.marianne2.fr/Les-Francais-et-leurs-Parisiens-l-autre-french-paradox_a189571.html ................JR
So, there you are - not just moi - and the Swiss think the same about 'les Genevois' et leur grande gu***le.

And no strimming or any noisy work on Saturday pm either - and no washing on the line. 'Our' church is very cute and there is a wedding almost every Saturday in Summer - no Law of course - but couldn't spoil their day with noise or our undies of the wedding photos! Bells will be ringing soon.

Both my neighbours have absolute beauties - colour in the autumn is wonderful. They have absolutely no problem with them, and the key is to leave them well alone-like a hornets nest!
-
Sounds delish - but in THIS HEAT! Café glacé for our friends tonight, after the BBQ - coffee and vanilla ice-cream in a big glass, with broken-up meringue, covered in cold coffee and a bit of chantilly. Could'nt face bread and butter pud today.

31C at 10am - with a slight breeze.

Come on - the whole of France knows about the Parisians!
-
The cows around here are NOT shy - and people from Geneva have big mouths and big egos - just a tad smaller than Parisians.[:P]
-
Some people from Geneva bought a house as a holiday home around here - and came most week-ends as well as hols. They actually asked the Mairie if they could ask the farmers to remove cow bells, as they found them too noisy! The Maire told them they should go back to Geneva! Our house was the Vicarage (1587 -2007) so we get a peal of bells every lunchtime, at 10pm, for services, and Friday and Sat nights - lovely.

It's 32C up here in the mountains - but we are so lucky to have a breeze- and to know it will cool down for the night. Been cleaning all day due to guests arriving tomorrow - hot, hot, hot.

Ours in the UK was electric and had a sensor so it would retract automatically if the wind got up too much. It was great, but not cheap, made and installed by Sanderson.

Have you got a good recipe for low fat yogurt ice-cream, anybody?

Il a des fesses d'enfer = great bum (superb, marvellous, really sexy - or you could say Sweet 'iron cheeks'). mdr = lol
-
So Polanski gets away with it?
