  1. Yes, it's brilliant isn't it? About 3 weeks ago we found out that our only daughter is expecting her first baby.

I just wanted to charge up and down the street shreiking 'I'm going to be a granny!!' like I'm the only one it has ever happened to, lol! I can't believe that my 'baby' is going to be a mum herself.

One of wonderful things that I find about it is that now you can look at various websites that show you 3D images of the baby in the womb at each week of pregnancy so you can see the development week by week. There was nothing like that when I had our daughter.

    Oooohhhh, it's just so exciting!!!

  3. This is really upsetting but can I please ask that everyone sign the petition below.

The evil lunatics who have perpetrated such despicable acts need to be stopped and cannot be allowed to go unpunished.
  4. We have just had to purchase a new camshaft and all 12 followers for our old Laguna. Price quoted in France just short of 1000 euros.

Parts sourced in UK (including VAT, shipping and taking into account the exchange rate) just over 300 euros!

If anyone wants the details of this supplier feel free to message me. No connection with this company, just one very happy customer
  5. Hi there

Just a quick update. I went to my appointment this morning and the doc said there was nothing to worry about.

Once again, thank you everyone for your kind interest.

  6. It's really very kind of you to take the time to re-assure me - thank you so much, I do really appreciate it.

    Kindest regards

  7. Hi there

In a couple of weeks I have an appointment to have a dodgy looking mole looked at.

If it needs removing will they do it there and then? Just want to be prepared on the day.
  8. Hi everyone

I have just registered as an AE as a cleaner/ironer and have already received my SIRET number.

Today I have received a letter from the Chambre de Metiers asking for, amongst other things, a 'justificatif du siège de l'entreprise'.

Am I correct in thinking that what they want is documentary evidence of the address of the head office of the business?

Obviously, as a cleaning lady, I do this at the homes of the clients and do not have an office.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what exactly do they want me to send them in these circumstances? Will a copy of my SIRET certificate from INSEE showing my home address on the top be sufficient?

    Thanks in advance.
  9. Here are a few examples from my grammar book:

I gave it to him/her - je le lui ai donné

He explained it to me - il me l'a expliqué

I put them there this morning - je les y ai mis ce matin

I don't have the time to explain it to you - Je n'ai pas le temps de te l'expliquer

    Hope this helps.

  10. Last year our taxe d'habitation deadline was the 15th December, this year it's the 15th November but we did receive the demand a couple of weeks ago.

We are in Deux-Sevres. I don't know for certain but I would guess that, in view of the Connexion email, this earlier deadline for payment applies all over France?
  11. That was brilliant! It certainly did get the grey matter going.

The bit that I had to think the hardest about was where conjugated verbs are also nouns.

I also got the question about the male chicken wrong!!!!! Considering that we have one in the garden I should just go and shoot myself now!!!!!!
  12. Hi there

Something a bit weird has happened - twice!!

My husband was covered for his health care by CPAM with me as a dependent as I don't work enough hours to be covered in my own right. When he registered as an auto-entrepreneur last Nov. the health care switched to RSI again with me as a dependent.

We were asked to update our carte vitales by RSI and my husbands card updated succesfully but mine would not update.

During the period that we were trying to sort this out I needed to see the doctor for the first time since being here and as my card no longer worked (as I was no longer covered by CPAM) I paid the 23 euros consultation fee and the only thing that the doctor gave me was the 'medecin traitant' declaration form which I filled in and sent off to RSI.

Then a few days later I received a cheque from CPAM in the amount of 14.40 euros relating to that consultation. The strange thing is that a) we are no longer covered by CPAM but RSI and b) I never claimed the cost of the consultation from anyone.

When I went back to the doctor a second time a couple of weeks later (having found out in the meantime that I am now registered on my husbands carte vitale) I used my husbands card and did not in fact have to pay anything at the time of the consultation. We have today received a cheque from RSI in the amount of 15.40 euros relating to the second consultation.

If I didn't pay anything at the time of the consultation shouldn't any payment have gone straight to the doctor? Again I haven't actually sent any paperwork in to claim any repayment.

    Any thoughts anyone?
  13. I really wanted to share this positive experience with everyone as we hear such a lot about bad service in France.

My husbands car broke down and the spare part it needed could only be supplied by Renault. As the car is quite an old one the part isn't kept in stock and had to be ordered.

We were told that it would arrive on the 17th September. As my husband needs his car for work I asked if it was at all possible that the part could be obtained any sooner.

The salesman really went out of his way to phone round to locate another one. This was at 3.30 pm yesterday afternoon. At 9.00 am this morning the garage rang to say the part was available for collection!

So if there are any Renault owners out there we would have no hesitation recommending the Renault dealership in Parthenay. The staff are really friendly and the service impeccable.
