mustang boss 302
Very quick question, I am coming over in the next couple of weeks, and wondered how much fuel was in France today, should I fill up in Portsmouth or Caen. Cheers.

DerekJ
This thread has just prompted me to have a look at gazole prices... we haven't been over since the end of October but will be back in a few weeks... like the UK they've been going up significantly[:(]
cooperlola
Scary, wot?I am in the UK at the moment and there is a garage just down the road which sells proper old fashioned 4-star (he is a dealer specialising in rather fine old cars). It is just under £2 a litre![:-))]

Mr Coeur de Lion
Yes, but America is slightly bigger. And you pay nearly 2.5 times what I pay here (3.8 litres to a US gallon).Even so, it's quite a hike considering the US is out in the middle east fighting to keep oil prices low... Gardengirl
I heard on R4 this morning that USA has huge amounts of oil, and don't need to be getting oil from other countries at all. That output is minute compared with what it could be if they chose. Is that right? Or is it the wrong sort of oil! [8-)]

Doodle
Went to our local intermarche on thursday and diesel was 130.9. Yesterday it was on sale at 134.9. The first saturday of each month usually sees a reduction in fuel prices so I do wonder if the price goes up a week or so before to allow for the reduction. Bugsy
I drove my wife to the train station yesterday and the garage we usually use for fuel showed 1.28 for diesel. On the way back a half-hour later it showed 1.31Me-thinks some profiteering is going on.. Mr Coeur de Lion
Gone up another 10c a gallon here. What's caused this? Can't be this Libya thing, can it? I guess any excuse to make a profit.
cooperlola
When I was in the UK last week the pundits were predicting a 10p rise in fuel prices at the end of Feb (which happened) and probably another similar rise at the end of this month and yes, they were blaming it all on the volatile situation in North Africa.I confess I have not looked at the news nor opened a newspaper (real or virtual) since I got back but I guess things are no different here, nor have they changed much in the last few days. Gardengirl
We filled up at Morrisons yesterday before we headed back to SE UK. The price there was £127.9, and I guess it was cheaper than the Shell we'd normally put in. And more rises to come! [:(] Pity we weren't in the Prius!
