The old France Shop in Stow

I remember it well.

For about 5 yrs on the trot (late 90's, I think), we used to have a Christmas shopping weekend in the Cotswolds at about this time of the year.  Queen's Hotel in Cheltenham, Sunday pub lunch in Stow.  The France shop was quite a new building I seem to recall.

Didn't they have a brief venture in the French Tourist Office in Piccadilly (on a sort-of mezzanine floor)?

I visited  the Shop in the 1990's, it seemed to have everything about France and more. Alas, times have changed but was very surprised to find a specialist shop of this  kind in Stow, but I do remember  how busy it was on the day of my visit.

yes - and very useful it was - long gone and in fact the Fr Tourist Office in Piccadilly is now so useless I never bother with it though I pass it every day on my way to and from work!

I loved the France shop and as I was often in the Stow / Moreton area, was a regular visitor. In those days, pre-maison secondaire, we normally only got over to France once, possibly twice a year and I used to get my fix of France by visiting the shop. They had some gorgeous posters and odds and ends and I used to get a lot of quirky small gifts from them.
