Dick Smith
A question - the rhodo part of rhododendron is from the Greek rhodos, a rose. Is the island of Rhodes named for roses in the same way that Cyprus is named for copper, ie something which defined those islands to the Greeks? Or am I totally wrong? TWINKLE
It means 'rose tree' or 'red tree' and they apparently originated from Asia - don't know of any Greek Island link sorry.Tresco or Gay will know.
