TWINKLE
Did anyone hear about this?http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28758057/Could this be the answer to the problems people have when they're trying to sell their house?
Scooby
This has been done before - I built an auction website for a client to do the same thing about 2 years ago. You have to be careful you don't fall foul of the gaming and lottery regs and that you include a contingency plan to ensure you safeguard the property if there is a poor uptake.
The man that owns the Chateau in 24 on the Pas de Anglais, Nr Perigueux tried to raffle it and the French authorities put a stop to it.Also if there is a poor uptake it can be quite expensive to reimburse the punters. Scooby
If there are insufficient ticket sales to meet the reserve price on the house, the raffle is still drawn but the prize money is the proceeds of the ticket sales less expenses.
Makes sense - though if the person holding the lottery was an MP the expenses might just eat up the majority of the tickets sales.

valB
A couple in England tried to raffle their propery this way and they had sold quite a lot of raffle tickets when the Gaming Commision stepped in and halted it. They are questioning if it is legal or not and the couple are in limbo at present.
TWINKLE
The spokesman for the raffle people in Austria said it was 100% legal over there anyway.
