Anton Redman
Best comment I ever heard about the MGB was an MX5 owner claiming his car was not overweight because it weighed no more than an MGB.

Gluestick
Guy I knew back in the 60s (67 ish), raced the whole of the European Formula III championship, in a Cooper BMC, amongst hoardes of Holbay and Cosworth powered "screamers".Having only slender means and no sponsorship, his tow vehicle was a B: in which another chum dropped an FX3 London Cab engine (Which of course was made roughly in size as the BMC "B" series engine and later used in Austin/Morris cars at one point). He also slept in a tent in the paddock: much to the amusement of the majority of well-heeled competitors, in particular the American driver, Harry Stiller, who used to call chum's accommodation The Paddock Hotel! The B did the whole season, on minimal fuel. powerdesal
Given that diesels are more frugal than petrols, anyone wanting a 4 yr old diesel Zafira (before it goes to UK) should PM me. I am not advertising as its against the rules. [;-)]
