mint
Not posting this to make any sort of point. Also, the article itself isn't nearly as interesting as the posts following the article. Found myself smiling broadly several times...........Form your opinion and, perhaps, let's have a few of your thoughts too?http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/money/pensions/article6297037.ece
Joe
When in Rome. Hopefully moving near Pontivy within weeks. I have got to improve my French very quickly. My wife and I are retiring to France for the very reason of integration and "going native". Surely that is the reason why most people want to move. krusty
I just had a look at this one of the comments "It is with sorrow that I read these terrible personal stories, but Britons in general should have taken to their heart 2 simple peaces of advice, first: make an effort to learn the language, not everybody speaks English. Second: when in Rome... mingle with the locals, it makes a massive difference."So how would "mingling" with the locals make your pension increase in value ? BJSLIV
If anyone could give me an explain .... Brits have always had a reputation for being stand-offish. Perhaps you could try again in another part of France.
Anton Redman
Problem is when you blend you at stop being British. Rememberd / Summound up the Greek for 'she could make a happy man very old' in Rhodes this year. Pretty hard going for a language I only did one term of when I was thirteen

I live in the Dordogne too and have many local French friends, more than I do English anyway.
